The Pink Triangle

It's so funny that a chance encounter could change everything.

I went back home for my birthday, and to see Vilma too, because she was coming home from Dubai! I was very excited to see her again. We hung out with our friends as much as possible, but there were some instances when we had some time alone.

Our mutual high-school pseudo-crush, JK, had invited us to watch his theater company's new play, which was to be held at a house in Sampaloc, Manila. It turned out to be a completely interactive experience.
Vilma and I took a jeep down Quezon Ave, then a trike through the many twists and turns in Sampaloc. We had some trouble finding the location (primarily because we did not expect it to be a house), and JK had to get out to the street to wave at us.

Once inside, we were delighted by a homemade feast. The owner of the house is a stage designer at CCP and now operates his house as a pseudo hotel for any visiting artist needing a place to stay. After small cocktails, we were invited to sit anywhere in the living area, as the spectacle unraveled before us.

"Bent" is a play about German homosexuals during the Nazi era, who were persecuted in pretty much the same way as Jews were. It was about how love grew despite repression. It was a very intimate affair as well.

One of the actors looked familiar. I had met S at last year's Cinemalaya. Malaya had introduced me to him, and he was interested but I was with TL at that time. This time, I was available, and I asked him if he was. We exchanged numbers. I am seeing him tomorrow.
