What are Words
Anywhere you are, I am near
Anywhere you go, I'll be there
Anytime you whisper my name, you'll see...
Three hours, fifteen minutes and thirty six seconds since the shredded black piece of metal Infinite once called their car twisted part of itself around a pliant body. Three hours and twenty two seconds since the ambulance arrived, trying to revive the broken and bleeding unconscious boy. Two hours, forty three minutes since they entered the emergency ward, the rest of the not heavily injured members hanging around the area. Blood. The stench of blood was heavily evident in the air, rich crimson red staining bandages or clothes.
The leader was a wreck, Sunggyu twisting and pulling testily at the pier of white extra bandage in his hands. His brow was furrowed in thought. Running a bloody hand through his hair; it was still slightly stiff from the gel and wax; the brown streaks stained red, he turned towards his next source of comfort; Woohyun; and leaned against him.
Sungjong was leaning against Myungsoo, the youngest with his eyes shut, tears slipping out from under his closed lids. An ice pack was being held to his head by Sungyeol, the tallest member's face contorted in slight pain.
Not at his injuries. At Sungjong's distress.
A sigh left the main rapper's mouth and he shifted lightly against both Woohyun, Sunggyu on his other side.
"Come on guys, he'll pull through. He is, after all, our Howon."
Heavy silence only greeted his words, Sungjong turning to bury his face in Sungyeol's blood crusted shirt. Then there were sobs, all of Infinite biting their lips at their Maknae's pain. Because they knew, even their Hogod couldn't survive an accident this large.
One hour, twenty two minutes and three seconds since the doctor came out.
One hour, twenty minutes and fifty seven seconds since they found out that Howon wasn't going to make it.
Make it in dancing, singing or even rapping. Howon's body had been snapped, broken in several places that couldn't be healed, leaving him paralyzed.
Sungjong cried all the more. Fifty three minutes since they saw their defeated rapper, fragile and pale on the crisp hospital sheets.
Forty two minutes since their manager stormed out on them.
Twenty three minutes since Infinite save for Sungjong left the hospital to rest.
Twelve minutes since Hoya woke up and found that he couldn't even talk.
Zero point three seconds since he started freaking out, tears slipping down his blood stained face, clearing paths on his scratched skin.
-
Nine days since Infinite took turns to visit their rapper.
Fifteen days after the accident, Hoya became motionless, unwilling to respond to the doctor or even Sungjong.
Seventeen days after the accident, Sungjong threw a fit and yelled at Howon, only to burst into tears a few minutes later.
Twenty three days after the accident, Sungjong pressed his lips to Hoya's unyielding ones, fingers slipping on whatever skin that wasn't bruised or cut.
Twenty three and a half days after the accident, Sungjong cuddled up to the finally smiling rapper.
Thirty four days after the accident, Hoya began accepting treatment.
Fifty six days after the accident, Hoya and Sungjong officially declared they were going out to the other members.
...
Eighty nine days after the accident and Hoya took his first step, Sungjong cheering loudly beside him.
...
A year and thirty six days after the car crash, Hoya is beside the Infinite members once again, Sungjong sticking especially close, promoting with them, just not dancing.
...
Two years, two hundred and six days after the nearly forgotten crash, Hoya dances his first dance since the accident, the other boys cheering him on, Sungjong the loudest.
...
It's really pointless to carry on with this story, the boys of Infinite can tell you that.
After all, Sungjong and Hoya are like walking pieces of Teddy bears mixed with a huge amount of sugary, teeth rotting and tongue numbing cheesy actions with each other.
And Hoya finds out, that there is no need for words when actions speak so much louder and clearer. Sungjong will always be here for him, no matter what.
Five years, and they're still going strong.
