Look at what I got myself into...

Second time I had to post this rant. The computer crashed. I am in a terrible mood.

Because I usually consider this more of a fannish/interest journal. I don't usually post details of my private life in the LJ (thus defeating the purpose of a LJ - I know) but, right now, I need somewhere to vent and hopefully someone will come along, read this, be sympathetic, and vindicate me. Also, I've got too many Microsoft Word files in the My Documents folder with only one journal entry each.

You'd think that not having a love life would exempt you from having problems of a romantic nature, but, what do I know? I never saw this coming, though I probably should have.

About a week or so ago, over my spring break, I ask a friend of mine to help me fix my computer. It was infected by some adware and I ended up deleting almost everything on it, including some important files. So he helps me to reformat my computer and upgrade it from a Windows 2000 to a Windows XP. He also helps me by installinga DVD driver on the computer. Now, this is a big deal for me. I absolutely love movies. I can get through college without a boyfriend as long as I have movies to watch.

I was really estastic over his assistance with the computer. He was a really good sport about it, wasting several hours of his time on a favor for me. So, being grateful and in good spirits, I wrote this on my AIM profile:

I am in love with [E]. Even if he has a girlfriend. He put a DVD reading driver on my comp. THANK YOU, [E]!!! <3 <3 <3

Well, his girlfriend was not too amused. She also happens to be a very good friend of mine. In fact, E and I had dinner with her and her parents the Saturday of spring break week. There's also a bit of history between us. I had a crush on E, then she liked him. He told me he didn't like me that way and he got with her. It wasn't supposed to be a big deal, but the whole thing got out of hand as word spread and our classmates started taking sides. This was all the way back in junior year of high school. Anyway, it wasn't a good time. One thing I do know for certain is that my crush, poor little thing that it was, was utterly crushed (ha! pun!) under the whole mess that occurred.

So, really, I AM NOT IN LOVE WITH MY FRIEND'S BOYFRIEND. Though, I may have made a mistake in not sitting her down and explaining that to her with diagrams and charts.

Because, now her AIM profile reads:

That's my friend [M]: I am in love with [E]. Even if he has a girlfriend. which is me...

She took the whole thing completely out of context. When coupled with the rest of my words, it's obvious that the first two sentences are written to be facetious. It's a joke, hyperbole, whatever. When you're online, it's not uncommon to find phrases like "OMG! LUVU4EVA! SQUEE!!!" or whatnot. Besides, there is no good reason I would post a statement saying I'm in love with her boyfriend and actually mean it in a place where all and sundry can see it. That would be inviting slander and derogatory names.

So, I don't know what her deal is. I'm going to find out as soon as possible. I sincerely hope that it's all a big misunderstanding. She goes to a different college than I do, so she may be posting this to generate sympathy so that she can assume the 'oh poor me, oh my' maytred air of a woman who's been wronged. The people that she interacts with I will not know, so there's now a whole group of people that'll think I'm some bitch friend without even having met me. Oh yippee.

I know that she's fond of melodrama, so maybe she's doing this to create some tension in her life. Then will come the oh-so-coy dance of misunderstanding, misinterpretion, accusations, gossip, and speaking at cross purposes. I am tired of that shit. I had enough the first time around. If that's the case, my answer: GROW UP ALREADY.

Whatever her reasons are, if she knows the truth and is deliberately miscontruing my words for whatever reason... well, that's a shitty thing to do to a friend. I'll try my best to set her straight. I'm hoping it's a misunderstanding, like a rumor, and she didn't get that quote straight from the source. Though that's not very likely. She's had my AIM screen name for forever so I'm not going to believe that she hasn't seen my AIM profile.

So, if anyone reads this, I'll keep you posted on what happens next.

Oh, and I have some fics planned out that I'm in the process of writing:

One Harry Potter fic presenting a different side of Draco than the one usually seen in HP fandom. This is a Draco that's much more normal and, in fact, is nothing spectacular at all.

Two Smallville fics, both from Clark's POV. One is a massive fanwank disguised as fic in order to make sense of the convoluted mess that is Season 4. Expect witches, element crystals, football, Lexana, and improbable plot twists. Just like the season itself! And it's not a humor fic. Be scared (I'm going to need a beta for this one to make sure the characters come out correctly). The second fic is an AU futurefic looking at a few different outcomes: 4 seasons, 4 images, 4 emotions. Sounds cryptic now, but you'll understand when you read it.

Three ALT+F4 stories being planned. The titles are 'Rewind', 'Fast Forward', and 'Play.' Look for some neat tricks with time and as many cyberpunk references as I can fit in. Oh, and a warehouse fight. Funnily enough, I know how the ALT+F4 series ends but I'm clueless about what exactly happens during the middle. Any other fic writers out there willing to reassure me that I'm not alone?
