A friend that you don't know yet needs your help
I read this horrible story this morning, it's haunting me ever since.
The nutshell: In May, right after the DCCon, electricmonk333 (from tumblr) was visiting New Orleans when she became very ill. At the hospital, she was diagnosed with the Toxic Shock Syndrome triggered by the common strep A bacteria.
The doctors could save her life, but the drugs stopped the blod flow to her extremities. A part of her left arm, all the fingers (save half a thumb) on her right hand, and part of her legs had to be amputated.
