herminekurotowa asked if we'd like to pimp the
rlbivob here so here we are! It's especially nice as tomorrow (July 12th) we're celebrating the One Year Anniversary since the start of the fic : )
About RLBIVOB
Tell us some general stuff -
rlbivob is a community that is a little mini ficfandom for
golden_cyborg's mobster fic, Red Like Blood, In Veins Of Blue.
Jensen is a rising crime lord and Jared's the college kid who catches his eye. The story is told from Jared's perspective as he falls down the rabbit hole into Jensen's world of money and violence There is tension, suspense, mpreg, intrigue and sexytimes that are…well…very sexy.
Golden posts installments of her story on the comm as she writes them, which anyone can access and read but we also have a members area in which we post pic spams to illustrate the story, icons, wallpapers, manips, art, vid, playlists…whatever we can think of. It's basically all about squee and discussing the story and characters, and getting each other through the next week or so until we get the next part of the story : ) The story is NC-17 and the other posts reflect that are are quite often NSFW.
We currently have 257 members, which feels insane as we've only been going since the beginning of April 2014. We're just so happy other people are enjoying it as much as we do.
And you don't have to be reading the story to be a member either. You can just join us for the squee without having to read a word.
If you are the original owner, why did you create this comm? - I came to the fic quite late, in around February of this year.
big_heart_june was raving about it on her journal and I thought I'd just read a couple of fills on the kink meme to see if I liked it. I was up 'til 4am and read every part. June and I then started to do pic spams on our own journals but the idea of the comm came up as sometimes I find it quite hard to follow the kink meme especially when a fic is this long…so I suggested it to June and Golden for entirely selfish reasons. They liked the idea and suddenly it happened!
Also, people seemed to be really engaged with it on the kink meme and a lot of the comments were people discussing the plot and characters, and Golden seemed really open to answering questions. It made sense to give the fic it's own space and easier to spread the love too. It's such a fantastic story, we want everyone to read it : )
How did you find the comm's name? - I tried out a couple but they were either taken or just too long and being that I have to type it out several times a day I thought it would be best to just stick with the initials of the title.
Are you specialising in something? - Initially it was just Golden posting the fic and June and I taking turns on posting pic spams. Now, though we have all kinds of things. As long as it's squee and related to the fic, it goes on.
Do you organize challenges? - We don't really have challenges. We had a poll for people to vote on which timestamps Golden would write for the One Year Anniversary Celebrations, which happens on July 12th. We try and get people involved in discussing aspects of the story and get them to post art etc., but no challenges as such…not yet anyway : )
Who made your banner? - I did the banner that's up at the moment. We also have a fab wallpaper on our profile page by
Krabbycow1110 What is absolutely not requested? - No concrit. Golden posts fills to the comm unbeta'd and unedited, so it's not really fair to talk in those terms about something that she may change or have to retcon at a later date.
What ships/ pairings do you encourage/request? - The fic is Jensen/Jared but there are a whole host of OC's who are as discussed as the main pairing sometimes! The speculation as to who is, or will be, with who is all part of the fun.
Do you post on other platforms (like dreamwidth, AO3, tumblr)? - Golden has tumblr and also posts edited chapters on to AO3. There are links on the sidebar of the comm if you're interested.

About Golden-Cyborg
What's the meaning of your pen name? - Pretty much what it says. A golden cyborg. A cyborg of gold.
Why did you choose it? - I have an affinity for cyborgs.
Do you have a regular icon? If so, what's its story? - For the longest time I didn't have one, because I'm that lazy. Now I have one that was made for
RLBIVOB by
Milly-gal. It's a great illustration for the fic as a whole.
What do you do, who do you read for inspiration? - One, everything. When I'm writing something I like, I have that story in the back of my mind constantly. Someone's accent, an overheard remark, a piece of trash on the street - all of them could be inspiration for the story.
Two, research. The longer I spend writing something, the more time I spend on research. It's not real, serious research, because that takes more time (and patience) than I have, but I Google the shit out of everything. I read Wiki. I ask people questions they probably wonder why I'm asking. I've even gone so far as to get real, actual books about mobsters. Having a solid base of knowledge always helps me write. It gives me confidence, and when I don't have it, I tend to just flail around. (I flail around A LOT.)
In general, I try to read plenty of variety, fiction and non-fiction. I try to read good writing advice and study skilled work. "Try" being the operative word here.
What kind of writing habit do you try to encourage (i.e.: write every day, write when you want, etc.)? - Write as much as I can, as often as I can. It's a constant struggle to keep the momentum. I'm not used to writing, and this last year of writing in fandom has been my most productive year ever for writing fiction. It's been good, but I'd like to get it to great.
What do you do against writer's block or to jumpstart your muse? - Music, maybe some visual inspiration. Coffee. Power through and for God's sake, don't read the results! (I don't edit, can you tell?)
Do you have journals on other platforms? - I have a tumblr, goldencyborg.tumblr.
Are there mistakes you've thought you made in the past or see other author's doing that you'd like to share? - I believe there aren't any mistakes that can't be edited. For the longest time, I was so afraid of writing poorly that I didn't write at all. I was waiting to become good at writing before I actually started writing. "Why Writers Are the Worst Procrastinators" by Megan Mcardle (on theatlantic.com) is a great summation of the mindset. At this point, I've worked up to the first stage - actually putting words down. Someday I'd like to conquer steps two and three, re-writing and editing.
So, the only mistake you can make is to not write. To not read. To not work like crazy and love it.
Do you have experiences with Big Bangs, Minibangs, Reverse Big Bangs, etc.? If so, do you have a word of advice? - I've only ever done one BB challenge, which was the 2013 Reverse Big Bang. It was awesome. I stretched my writing into a genre I've never written in before, I got to work off some fantastic art, and I had fun. Best advice I could give is, just do it.
If you write in a certain genre, what draws you to that style of writing? - I don't think I write a certain genre. I've not written enough to really make that classification, but I'm sure (I hope) I will try a lot of different things, in the future. I do have something of a theme in my fic of men in traditionally (biologically) female roles, and I'd need more time than we have to fully explain why that draws me in, but short answer is, it's sensational. I like to write outlandish things as normal. It's probably something I get from the fantasy genre where the competent author can give you a world full of fantastical things so perfectly in place it's complete immersion. But instead of magic and stuff, I write pregnant guys.
What is your OTP or favourite fandom? - I've never been extremely fannish before (or after) Supernatural. I also didn't (and don't) have pairings, which kind of makes Supernatural my default. Sam and Dean are my OTP, obviously. They have always been endgame for me. The sex is hot, but platonic Sam and Dean have my heart.
A story recommendation - There is so much awesome in this fandom, and I'm very out of date on it. Even so, there's no way I can pick just one. There's THERE'S A HOLE IN THE FABRIC OF MY REALITY by etrix_lists, because I have a soft spot for parallel universe stuff and the Winchesters as kids. There's FORTUNATE SON by chemm80 because I watch SOA and it's one of the rare crossovers I can get both sides on. There's THE KILLING MOON by poisontaster because it's the first (I think?) mpreg fan fic I ever read and made me want to read more. And then there's the WOLFPACK 'Verse by tabaqui, which is outsider POV and crazy, fucked up Winchesters.
