I basically wanted to call in sick and stay in bed today because of the inauguration. I've had terrible sleep and anxiety dreams all week and I started crying when the news talked about the Obamas leaving the White House.
I set up monthly donations to the SPLC, ACLU, and Planned Parenthood, so there's that at least. I just keep thinking I'll wake up from this bizarro trumpistan nightmare but no, this is apparently reality now and I don't like it. I don't like it at all.
I guess there's also this perfectly timed January talking meme question: What's a favorite comfort food for you? from
grammarwoman Pastina! I may make it for dinner tonight. It's tiny star shaped pasta cooked in chicken broth and when the pastina is cooked (it doesn't take very long, maybe 4 minutes?), you crack an egg into the pot and then add parmesan cheese and stir until it's all cooked and delicious. It's basically the simplest, blandest baby food you can imagine, and therefore supremely comforting and filling, especially since my mother and grandmother used to make it for us whenever we were sick.
Other super comforting foods: pancakes, a toasted bagel with cream cheese, grilled cheese and a can of Doc Brown's cream soda. A big mug of hot chocolate with a dollop of whipped cream floating on top.
