I mostly dozed and checked tumblr through last night's Legends of Tomorrow. I admit the only time I paid close attention was when Wentworth Miller was onscreen. It's a good background noise show, I guess.
I did manage to wake up enough to pay attention to The 100.
♥LEXA♥
While I'm sad the Ice Queen is gone so quickly, I love that Lexa had it all under control - as she told Clarke she did - and that "someone will die today" didn't necessarily have to refer to the two combatants in the ring. But she was also awesome in the fight itself, showing how someone smaller could win that fight - with agility and guile. And some double-sword action (if this were tumblr, I would tag it #ladies with swords) and then some spear action. ♥♥♥ And naming Roan king, in the hope that he will be less contentious (since he owes his throne to her) than his mother.
(I say I was paying attention, and yet I missed the explanation for the color of the Nightbloods' blood. Can anyone fill me in?)
Also, Clarke! Scheming on Lexa's behalf! Really though, Clarke, Nia's been playing this game a long time; you'd have to get up pretty early in the morning to get the drop on her. I kind of wish she'd been around a little longer to scheme and politick.
While I think Michael Beach is doing a great job with what he's given as Pike, I really wish there were more nuance in everything about him. The Ice Nation does not equal all of the Grounders! Maybe listen to other people's experiences before flying off half-cocked to massacre the people sent to protect you!
I don't even know what's going on with Bellamy. This is almost as abrupt an about-face as Finn's and well, dramatically that ended great, not so much for Clarke or Raven. Or Finn, I guess, but it's hard to feel bad for him after what he did. Though I definitely enjoyed the irony of Jasper trying to be self-righteous about what Clarke did to Mount Weather with Finn's ashes in the place where the 100 fried 200 Grounders! Nobody there has clean hands, Jasper, not even you. Though maybe that's also part of his difficulty.
I was really glad Monty yelled at him. I feel like this is a Lee Adama-floating-in-his-metaphorical-lake-of-pain moment. Everybody suffered and lost people during these terrible times! Your suffering is not more important than everyone else's to anyone but you, Jasper! Like, sure, deal with grief your own way, even if that means falling apart and staying drunk forever, but don't act like your pain gives you the right to treat other people badly.
Anyway! While I usually enjoy how quickly this show burns through plot, I don't approve of this unsubstantiated character shift for Bellamy, because after everything he's been through, with Octavia and Lincoln (poor Lincoln, having to be "the good Grounder" ugh - the writers have at least a superficial idea of what they're doing but making Pike an angry black man also feels like maybe they haven't thought the implications through of how it plays on screen) and Indra, to have him revert like this, when we really got nothing of his relationship with Gina except that sweet Iliad moment, is very difficult to buy, even after having been betrayed by Echo, for whom he vouched. I thought he might tell Octavia and have her go warn Indra, or maybe he'd ratted them out when Kane and Abby showed up, but no. So I don't know what's going to happen but I know it's going to be bad for everyone, but especially for Bellamy.
Relatedly,
look at how ADORABLE Alycia Debnam-Carey and Eliza Taylor are.
Unrelated, but still adorable,
here's Ewan McGregor singing "Heroes" at the David Bowie tribute earlier this week. How is he so delightfully charming? And why does he not make more movies I actually want to see?
In other news, we've got a polar vortex (we don't want it; can't we give it back?) so I'm planning to do some grocery shopping tonight on the way home from work so I can hermit up all weekend (3 day weekend) where it's warm. Ugh, when will winter finally end so it can be warm again? I hate wearing so many layers and having to wear boots and socks.
