Ugh, work. But today I learned a couple new tricks with Word, which I didn't think was still possible, so yay for that? (I still wish we lived in the alternate timeline where WordPerfect overtook the market and Word faded into obscurity, but whatever!)
Arrow: Legends of Yesterday
Before I get into this episode, I just want to say that while I liked this version of Hawkgirl okay, if you want to watch a really great character arc, and you haven't already watched JL/JLU, do yourself a favor and watch it. Shayera Hol gets an AMAZING arc (which starts in the original Justice League series before they added "Unlimited" to the title; I still don't know why people act like they're separate series), the kind that women don't usually get on tv shows, and even if the show weren't worth watching for myriad other things (which it totally is!), it'd be worth it for her. ♥SHAYERA♥
Anyway!
This was mostly fine? I mean, I don't like Carter/Hawkman, and I don't care that much about this version of them, but except for the flashbacks being kind of awful (which is pretty par for the course for Arrow), I enjoyed it? I mean, I enjoyed Vandal Savage and Malcolm Merlin, I enjoyed Cisco. He was on fire with the one-liners last night. (I totally laughed at the Age of Ultron shout-out.) Oh Cisco! Kendra obviously doesn't appreciate your dopeness. I love when Barry and Oliver work together. They're just so adorable.
Also, NTH METAL. Ha!
I'm completely ignoring the Long Lost Son plot, because it gave me terrible s6 Gilmore Girls flashbacks, and how godawful the show handled it, there's a lot of bullshit in the assumptions surrounding this kind of plot on any show, and also both Oliver and Felicity make some terrible decisions as the thing plays out. Like, Oliver, hi, hello, you don't actually have to keep it a secret from Felicity! You just tell the lady you have and make sure Felicity understands the gravity of the situation so she doesn't blurt it out to the press when you're being interviewed about becoming mayor! This is not that hard! (also, there seemed to be a line missing where the mother actually agrees to let Oliver see the kid? She's telling him no, and he can't tell anyone and then that's a condition and it's okay? What? Ugh, just. No. Say no to poorly written sekrit babies. They're just such a disappointment.
I feel like I had other things to say, but work is just ridiculous right now in prepping for the board meeting so I'm going to run out and get more coffee and then I'll catch you on the flip side!
