The July 2015 writing roundup:
I want to take a breath that's true (at
AO3)
Captain America; Steve/Bucky; g; 2,225 words
In which Steve and Bucky have breakfast in Central Park and hash out some stuff.
In the Shadow of Two Gunmen (at
AO3)
DCU/MCU; Jason, Natasha, Steve, various members of the Batfamily; AU; pg; 12,330 words
After the fall of the Soviet Union, Department X was dissolved and their inventory was liquidated. The League of Assassins acquired certain assets.
I actually haven't written a word since I posted the crossover. That was the last active major story I had in progress (by "major" I mean something that's more than like 3000 words and by "active" I mean that I was still opening it up and working on it regularly, or at least cursing it vociferously when I couldn't figure out how to finish it). I have a couple older stories I still idly think about finishing - mostly the Steve/Natasha undercover married that would have to be reworked extensively, the Max/Alec courting via heists story, the Dick/Jason tropefest known as "amnesiac 'platonic' bed-sharing fake boyfriends," the ultimate!Peter Parker wakes up in the DCU story, and the Robin/Raven/Starfire (animated Teen Titans) OT3 story that in reality only has a paragraph written and that paragraph is pretty awful. And I may yet finish one or more of them! Anything could happen! But back in January 2014, the MCU/DCU crossover was on the list of things I wanted to finish before CATWS came out, and it was the only one I didn't (the others included SPY PUPPIES, the AU where Bucky breaks free on his own, the one where everyone thinks they're dating, and the one with the nightswimming and the roadtrip), but now it is done! I still feel kind of bereft without it looming over me.
Which I guess makes it time to do a wip roundup, not including the above which may or may not ever get written:
= Where There's Smoke (Steve/Bucky)
= the Nick/Cassie that I'd started reconstruction on and then stopped in the middle so I don't remember what the actual plan was, but I have too much written to give up completely
= the Nick/Cassie five times people thought they were a couple fic
= undercover cruise ship fake dating!
= the horizon widened like an open road (Steve/Bucky/Sam/Natasha road trip thing)
= Steve/Bucky (or possibly Steve/Bucky/Natasha? this one's slippery) FWB
= the one where Steve tries to be noble and push Bucky away for his own good
There are others (some TRC stuff, the Ventress/Obi-Wan frenemies with benefits, the angst-with-a-happy ending Tim/Kon epic), but those are the ones that are still in my recent documents list in Word.
I guess since I am guilty of mining his poetry for titles and inspiration (see above), I'd be remiss in not sharing this link to
Richard Siken on fanfiction.
