the good things in your past

A bunch of things make a post!

a. I totally conked out last night at like 8:30, and I slept through until about 1:45, got up, brushed my teeth, and then went back to bed and slept until my alarm went off at 7:25. Normally that much sleep would leave me sluggish and headachy, but man, I totally needed it, because today I feel great!

2. I'm also excited about the iZombie season finale tonight. Given how all the threads are pulling together, it should be excellent. *crosses fingers*

III. Having seen this Peggy/Steve gif set over the weekend, I should have been prepared this morning when "Shut Up and Dance" came up on my iPod, but I was not and I teared up on the bus. *sobs* It's such a happy song! But Steve makes everything sad! I guess I will rewatch this vid as a remedy.

D. I think I've found my limit when it comes to ebook pricing - yesterday, I discovered that a book I really wanted was $12.99 for the kindle edition, and I was like, WTF NO WAY. I did end up purchasing it because it's the third book in a series I'm reading and I wanted to know what happened next, and also I got the first two books with a gift certificate and therefore didn't pay for them, so the $12.99 is kind of amortized over the cost of three books, but still, my response to $12.99 was a kneejerk NOPE, whereas I've paid up to $9.99 with nothing but mild grumbling about how THERE AREN'T EVEN ANY PRINTING COSTS. I don't want to get into an argument about what the actual costs are re: producing ebooks. I just discovered that over $10 seems wrong to me (though 1 penny under is okay! marketers know what they're doing!), even as a profligate book-buyer.

5. Despite many issues with the site, sometimes, the AV Club just gets me: these two essays about Calvin & Hobbes and Matthew Sweet's "Sick of Myself" are a case in point. ("Sick of Myself" is one of my all-time favorite songs*, along with "If I Can't Change Your Mind" by Sugar. I ♥ THE NINETIES, or at least I was in my twenties for them so it was a good time.)

Speaking of music, and specifically the song in my current music spot, it's been a while since I linked to this, so here's Stevie Wonder singing "Superstition" on the Muppet Show. Enjoy!

*Obviously, "Thunder Road" is my NUMBER ONE ALL-TIME all-time favorite song, and then songs shuffle around a bit as I forget/remember how much I love a particular song (recently I've been on a Beatles kick, but also I rediscovered Simply Red's "The Right Thing" this weekend from the depths of my music collection, and while it isn't on the all-time favorites list, it sure is good listening), but both "Sick of Myself" and "If I Can't Change Your Mind" are on the list. PURE POP PERFECTION, NINETIES STYLE.
