Confession time: of all the housekeeping chores I loathe (and I loathe 98% of them - I like cooking, don't mind washing dishes or doing laundry [as long as I don't have to fold it or put it away]), the one that seems most pointless to me is making the bed. I never make my bed. Even when I put clean sheets on, I can't be bothered to do more than

YES. Making the bed is the most pointless task ever in the universe. The only time I sort of do it is when I'm about to fold laundry, because I find it easier when I'm dealing with a flat surface, so I'll kind of smush the blankets down to more or less be laid out flat.

That I can understand - I've done it for packing purposes, or wrapping gifts. But overall, I just don't see the point. I am only going to mess it all up again that night.

Put a dot of permanent marker near the elastic of the upper left hand corner! It won't show because it'll be tucked under the mattress. Or, you know, sew on a tiny bit of ribbon or something if you're worried about the marker washing out and staining the other wash.

I guess that would work if I could remember to do it once I've got the damn thing on correctly. I think the stripes method leaves less room for error though.

Ours used to? But now it seems to be on the top sheet, which I already know which way that one goes!

and that is basically the only way I make the bed. The comforter gets laid over top of everything, and that's good enough for me. *g*
