they get a lot of adrenaline playing four on four

I didn't actually do a lot today, but it's gray and cold and rainy - November is really asserting its chilly personality right out of the gate this year - but I want to curl up under the covers and read for the rest of the weekend. I went out to visit my dad today, which was nice, but I was up at 8 to be at Penn by 9:45 and I didn't get all the way home until after 6 pm (I did stop off at the diner for dinner, since the rain had let up a little bit and I hadn't eaten since this morning when I got to Penn) and I find that wearisome on the weekend. It'll be nice to get that extra hour tonight, and also to have the Marathon snarling everything around the city as an excuse to stay home tomorrow (though I will have to go grocery shopping for breakfast and lunch for the week).

Last night, Neil Gaiman read his free Halloween story to us, as well as the first chapter of his new Hansel and Gretel, which has apparently gotten glowing reviews (the artwork is pretty spectacular), and he talked about childhood and books and was generally pretty funny and smart and charming. Definitely worth the $15, I thought.

Then I came home and watched Legend of Korra, which was kind of another setup episode? Except for the big mecha fight, which was awesome, as well as the development of a slight conscience for Varrick, and Zhu Li "betraying" him (I would be very surprised if she isn't playing Kuvira somehow; of course, I also think Kuvira is probably onto her).

I like that Korra didn't rush in a fight the way she would have in the past, but I fear this might be the kind of situation where she needed to, because I'm pretty sure nothing but an overwhelming show of force is going to remove Kuvira from power.

I thought the flashback was interesting, because even if Su wasn't up for being the Great Uniter, she still could have lent her administrative and people managing skills to the effort. Did Zaofu just turtle up and hide while the rest of the kingdom was in chaos? I feel like we'd have heard if they provided some sort of aid to complement/counteract Kuvira's military action. So while I don't think Su is responsible for Kuvira or the situation, I do think she could have done more to help out the Earth Kingdom (I mean, maybe we will hear that she did).
