Brooklyn Nine Nine: Halloween II
The fact that Holt started his planning a year ago (and had already started planning for next year) is what made this episode for me. I watched this show in spite of Andy Samberg, and this ep was a good example of how annoying it can be when he goes over the top. I still like Peralta, but he really needs to fade back into the ensemble just a titch for the show to hit the heights. But everything about Holt in The Box was golden.
The Good Wife: Shiny Objects
I'm not really sure the Elsbeth stuff worked, for once, but oh my gosh, Diane! And ALICIA AND PETER IN THE HALLWAY. Loved the callbacks to the opening episode, and the huge difference in Alicia then and now. And oh, Kalinda. I think that bit where she accuses Lana of looking through her stuff *was* her opening up emotionally - she looked proud and turned on, not accusatory and angry, but Lana just isn't that damaged, I guess. Also, I'm sad Archie Panjabi is leaving the show at the end of the season, but I feel like they haven't really done great writing for her over the past few seasons, though she shone in the aftermath of Will's death, and I feel like this arc with Lemond Bishop will let her go out with a bang (though hopefully not a literal one; I don't want him to kill her and I don't want her to sleep with him, though I fear the former is probably what's going to happen. Unless she ends up running and changing her name and starting over again after she brings him down - that would be a sorta happy ending for her.) I also loved Diane with David Lee. Ripping up an email! What a maroon!
Sleepy Hollow: The Weeping Woman
As much as I enjoyed certain aspects of this episode - Caroline! We hardly knew you! I wish you could have lived and hung out with Ichabod at reenactments! - I have some complaints, the first of which is ugh, Hawley. WHY IS HE THERE INSTEAD OF JENNY? ALSO WHY ARE THEY SETTING UP A JENNY-ABBIE-HAWLEY LOVE TRIANGLE? NO ONE WANTS THAT.
Second of all, Katrina. So she's been blocked from using her magic, okay. But then when she finally does get a message out, it's a love note with NO INFORMATION OF ANY SORT? WHY? WHY IS SHE STAYING THERE IF SHE'S NOT ACTUALLY PROVIDING ANY INTEL? While I get that it would be predictable for her to turn evil (or to have been a lot more gray than Ichabod thought or would like to think), at least it would give her something interesting to do! Right now she is a big blah. Ichabod had more chemistry with Caroline than with her. (And of course I ship Abbie/Ichabod, but I don't need it right now on the show! I can wait!) And given her penchant for keeping secrets/double-dealing, it would at least make sense with what we've seen of her so far. ALSO, she has to be lying even in that final confession about what happened to Mary, right? Because why would Mary haunt people by DROWNING them if she was dead before Katrina shoved her in the river? And if it were simply her tears doing the drowning, why would the bodies turn up at the same spot on the river?
Also, the writing for Mary was pretty terrible and one note. She was CRAZY JEALOUS of every woman Ichabod spoke to!
Still, the Abbie and Ichabod parts were great, as always, and I was glad to see Jenny at the end, even if I hate that Hawley has usurped her spot on the show. I also think we need to catch up with 1. Irving and 2. Reyes. Abbie nearly drowns in the library and fires her weapon there and the new sheriff has nothing to say about it? Or about last week's kidnapping?
Look, I enjoy this show a lot and I don't expect to make a lick of sense plot-wise, but I do think it always has character-wise and now it's not quite doing that with its supporting cast, and I want it to!
I keep hoping to have a story to post, but I have been choosing sleeping over writing lately. *hands* I feel like I will never get enough sleep. It's a problem. And I've only redone my yuletide signup once so far, so I'm sure I'll be tweaking my offers right up until the deadline, especially as more letters get posted.
