Last night, L and I went to see Gone Girl. I haven't read the book yet (the waitlist at the library is...formidable), but I thought the movie was very entertaining. I did know that there were a number of SHOCKING!! TWISTS!!! which made me realize from the get-go that Nick couldn't have murdered his wife. Because unless the twist was "oh no, he's innocent after everyone thinks he's guilty, but then no, he really is guilty after he's acquitted!" there wasn't anything shocking about it. So I figured Amy'd faked her death somehow. I did not expect her to turn out to be quite as much of a sociopath as she turned out to be, but then, I guess being Amazing Amy throughout her childhood years was enough to screw anybody up in a huge way. I thought Tyler Perry was really good as the lawyer, and I also liked the actress who played Nick's sister. She had a Natalie Morales type thing going on that worked for me. And both Pike and Affleck were really well cast (especially because Affleck is super douchey but you can believe he didn't actually kill his wife even if he hated her enough that he might have). And Matt Saracen's mom as the detective! And here is Linda Holmes on the movie. (SUPER SUPER SPOILERY. IJS.)

then we went to dinner and I was home in time to see The Good Wife. NO ALICIA, DON'T RUN. She just got to Florrick/Agos and things were just getting even more interesting there. A campaign is just not that interesting to me at this time. Hopefully the list of skeletons in her closet will be enough to stop her.

I was happy to finally see Robert Sean Leonard guest star, and then sad when I realized Josh Charles was gone and I wasn't going to get a mini Dead Poet's Society reunion. Sigh.

I like how they are ratcheting up the tension on Cary and also giving Kalinda interesting, complicated things to do. Also, it's a little jarring to go from Logan Huntzberger to current!Cary Agos.

After that was over, I watched Brooklyn Nine Nine, which was KILLING it. SO MUCH AMAZING TERRY PLUS CAPTAIN HOLT. "That makes him our grand-captain." "That...is amazingly funny." And AMY. "Everybody loves their pets!" and "Cajole up, Captain." And her FACE after she scolded him. ♥AMY♥

Plus the chocolate milk bar that was all the worst parts of chocolate and milk! Typical!

The only thing I wasn't on board with was Diaz agreeing to go to the party with Boyle. I really hope that they are not going to revisit Boyle's Nice Guy™ thing for her.

Speaking of Ray Holt: Andre Braugher, the Undercover Comedian of 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine', from the NY Times Magazine.

And here is a great profile of The West Wing: The Definitive History of the West Wing. (Note: Sorkin is pretty restrained here; he didn't make me want to punch him more than twice, I think. But I haven't read all the sidebars yet, either.)

In other TV news, Legend of Korra is on Nicktoons tonight at 8 pm, with "The Stakeout," which was episode 9 of s3. So I don't even know what's happening, because season 4 started last Friday night on their website.

I've got a short week this week - I'm out on Thursday and Friday - and not a moment too soon. Today I have been short with everyone and nearly snapped at my bosses at different times. Ugh. People. I need to be away from here for a few days without anything else to do.
