but my heart says you're here to keep

KORRA KORRA KORRA TONIGHT! I AM EXCITE. DO YOU THINK WE'LL SEE VARRICK'S IRON MAN SUIT? WILL ZHU LI TURN OUT TO BE THE HEAD OF THE RED LOTUS? WILL KORRA/ASAMI BECOME CANON? WHY DOES KORRA CUT HER HAIR? WILL WE FINALLY MEET ZUKO'S DAUGHTER? ALL THAT PLUS, TOPH! I CAN'T WAIT.

Also, just an FYI, though apparently Netflix pulled BSG as of 10/1 (I'm glad I did my rewatch earlier; I have the dvds, but it's much easier to just let Netflix spool through), they've added Gilmore Girls, so since tomorrow we're supposed to be having terrible rainy, blustery weather, I might cherry pick my way through the later seasons for the enjoyable episodes, since I don't have those on dvd.

In other news, all my yuletide noms were accepted (as I knew they'd be, since I chose small things; three of the four Enlisted characters didn't even have canonical tags), and I've written up a first draft of my letter, though I have seven (possibly eight - does anyone know if Tiffany Aching was approved as a Discworld exception? I didn't want to write up a request and get my hopes up if it didn't make it) requests and only six request slots. Four of those are definitely solid, but I'm waffling over the others.

How do we feel about workshopping the yuletide letter? I have read so many things about how to write a good letter (and also, what not to do!), and since most of my requests are new this year, I've been tinkering with the intro part, too. In the past, I've had other people look them over, so I don't come across as demanding or picky (...I don't think I am, but of course, I wouldn't), but I'm still never sure how detailed to make them. As a writer, I like being provided with a handful of likes and scenarios (not all of which have to be included, obviously), and some stringent DNWs so I know where not to go, and being given nothing (which happened to me last year - no characters, no prompts, no letter until later in the game) massively freaks me the hell out. (Also, is there any way to avoid someone who wants worldbuilding? because let's face it, that is not my strong suit.)

I think I've avoided most of the obvious pitfalls (no requesting any and then harping on non-nominated characters; no insisting on a ship or scenario without which yuletide would be RUINED, RUINED I TELL YOU) while being relatively concise about what I like and don't like and hope to get out of the whole thing. But sometimes writing the letter is more anxiety-inducing than writing the story, because I want to provide enough info to spark a writer, but not so much that any spark is smothered or so little that nothing sparks at all.

*hands*

What do all y'all think?
