Yesterday, I made the famous raspberry buttermilk cake for this week's breakfast, and the pesto/ricotta lasagna roll ups for this week's lunch. I had two of the rollups for for dinner (so tasty!), and then, since I had some leftover frozen meatballs from lunch a couple weeks ago, I heated those up and then simmered them with onions, garlic, oregano and red wine vinegar, which is the most amazing way to make meatballs, and my apartment smelled great, and I had a couple of those for dinner and still have enough left for dinner another night this week. Mmm...food.

The meatballs are the easiest thing ever - once your meatballs are cooked, whether you make 'em from scratch or use the frozen ones, take them out of the frying pan, saute some chopped onions in some olive oil, and once the onions are softened/transparent, add some minced garlic and, once that's golden, put the meatballs back in, add 1/3 cup of red wine vinegar and about 1/8 cup of oregano (it seems like a lot - it IS a lot - but it's so good). Lower the temperature and let it simmer for about 20 minutes. Serve hot or at room temperature. You can also make this with zucchini or eggplant, exactly the same way. (if you've got more than 8-10 meatballs, you can up the quantity of vinegar to 1/2 cup. Adjust the garlic/onions/oregano to your taste, obviously.)

I also wrote about 3k words on the accidental baby fic, changed the title, and tried to figure out a good ending point for it (still haven't worked that out, but hopefully I'll know it when I see it, since there's still a few scenes to go and it's already 5600 words), so that felt good. I'm basically writing this so
angelgazing can write all the Steve/Bucky + baby timestamps her little heart desires, since she keeps texting them to me.

And then I watched The Musketeers, which I'm enjoying immensely in a mindless summer TV way, though I still can't with Athos and his annoying secretive brooding. Bleh. Last night's ep had James Callis being Baltar-y all over the place, and also a great scene with Milady and Constance that made me want them to have antagonistic sex, or possibly a threesome with D'Artagnan, who continues to be very pretty and Ramses-like. Also, they addressed Porthos' mixed race status, which I didn't expect. ♥Porthos♥ And Aramis continues to win at everything, including being the prettiest.

All in all, it was a nice, quiet, surprisingly productive holiday weekend.
