Last night, I dreamt that Laurel Lance had suddenly been possessed by Ruby v1.0 and I liked her so much better after that. Poor Katie Cassidy. I really hope the Arrow writers can turn that character around.
In other superhero news, a number of my coworkers have commented positively about my Captain America iPad cover, but today one of the women I work with was like, "yeah, he's all right but when are they making a Wonder Woman movie? My 4-yo daughter really wants a Wonder Woman movie." And I was like, "So do I, man. So do I." Sigh. #dc look at your life. look at your choices.
I would also like more people to write me Captain America/Wonder Woman fic, because I don't understand why you wouldn't [I mean, I ship them with other people, too, but crossovers are different!], but once again, fandom has failed to cater to my whims.
And then I was reminded that I never wrote a sequel to "Captain America's Art Crawl Adventure" and I might need to do that. So Pepper can get a look at Wendy's art and Wendy can get a look at Bucky. And speaking of crossover pairings, maybe Wendy and Steve could make out. Or Wendy and Bucky, while Steve and Noser play Stump the Band. I'm not really that fussy+. ART CRAWL! o/
+Everyone who knows me just laughed for some reason and probably doesn't even know why.
It's Wednesday, which means it's book memeing time!
What I've just finished reading
I just did a quick reread of Band of Brothers: E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne from Normandy to Hitler's Eagle's Nest by Stephen E. Ambrose, which I enjoyed, per usual, though as always, I could have done without Ambrose's jingoistic editorializing. Also, this was an ebook version, which had a number of jarring OCR errors, which I found annoying. Mostly, the thing is, I love the miniseries more, for many reasons, but mostly because of Damian Lewis's face and the book just can't compete with that. (I just realized that I never posted about it when I originally watched it, probably because of all the inarticulate and visceral FEELS, and also possibly because I feel like I first watched it when I was not in a good place mentally and therefore feeling vulnerable? I don't know, but I always tend to rewatch in Jan/Feb, during the worst of my winter malaise. I dunno.)
What I'm reading now
The Second World War by Antony Beevor, which is another huge military history that came from the library, and not quite as engaging as Inferno was, though it also does include some quotes primary sources like people's letters home. The other thing that is irritating me is that while it does the smart thing of making the beginning of each quote a hyperlink to the source rather than just linking the teeny tiny number of the endnote, because it is a library book, it's via that 3M reading app, so none of the links are clickable in the copy I have. Also the maps don't enlarge. But that's a technology issue. I don't mind the 3M reading app, though it was kind of a bear to find/install the first time, but it does have its drawbacks.
What I'm reading next
I never know. Unless something comes from the library. That always gets top priority.
