if we can get around it, i know that it's true

So I just got home from an emergency eye doctor appointment and a trip to the pharmacy. I woke up with serious pain in my left eye, like something had gotten up under the lid and would just not come out, but the pain was pretty sharp - it teared all day and was red and gross - so I saw the doctor (which my insurance will barely cover - one eye exam every two years, and since I had one last year, they'll only knock off $5 this time) and she said there were abrasions on the cornea that were very irritated and risked becoming infected. So she prescribed combination steroid/antibiotic drops which I have to use every hour (and which my insurance will also not cover, and there is no generic brand) for the rest of the night and in the morning, and then I have to go back and see her again in the morning (at least they don't charge any more for a followup visit). Also I have to pitch this month's pair of contacts, even though it's only a little more than halfway through.

It's always something, I suppose. Sigh.

I really enjoyed last night's Sleepy Hollow. I am totally shipping Jenny/Captain Irving now. SO BADASS.

Also, we got a scene of Abbie and Jenny that made my heart sing - ♥hot, competent monster-hunting siblings♥!

I think the reveal of the Horseman as Ichabod's friend was a little ridiculous - I mean, even more so than the rest of the show - mostly because we hadn't seen him before, so it kind of came out of nowhere. Also Katrina was dressed awfully fancy for a Quaker. I wish I cared more about Ichabod/Katrina, and I like that she definitely seems like she's taking everything on her own terms (as much as she can in the American colonies in the 18th c. anyway), but so far I am just not wowed by their chemistry the way I am with him and Abbie.

JOHN CHO, CONFLICTED UNDEAD SPOKESMAN FOR DEATH. OH MY GOD, THIS SHOW. SO ENTERTAINING.

As for Almost Human, I guess I was less bothered by this episode than most people. Of course they went straight for sexbots. Of course they were 99.44% women (there was at least one dude bot in the store), and of course, it was gross. I guess I was just glad that there was minimal torture porn with the kidnap victims - none of that was filmed to be sexy, the way, say, the second episode of Fringe was. (Don't watch the second episode of Fringe. It is so terrible.) I was more pinged by the racial issues - of course the sexbot they question is black, and then Kennex asks who owns her, and the look on Dorian's face about the inappropriateness of it... that can't all be unaware. They have to be doing something there, though of course I'm sure it will be handled terribly when it finally gets to the textual level.

I can't with them already setting up Lyla Garrity as a love interest. It's only an episode since he was all mopey over his ex. Though I already like the theory that she's also a bot. And the banter so far is entertaining, so I will keep watching, as long as the football game isn't more interesting.
