For my fellow New Yorkers (and visitors to this fine city!), an exhibit that opened recently at the NYPL that is relevant to my interests and may be relevant to yours (and also is free, which is the best kind of exhibit, imo): The ABC of It: Why Children's Books Matter. Let me know if you are interested in going - we could make an outing of it.
And (thanks to
edenfalling for the link): Most of America realizes that New York really is "The City." Unsurprisingly, the areas around Boston, Philly, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, and Minneapolis (thought wouldn't that be the Cities?) are the ones that most strongly buck this trend. I mean, it's expected in the tri-state area (and south Florida), but that wash of pink through the rest of the country amuses me.

There was fic last night! I know, I was shocked, too, since most of it got written yesterday after languishing for months:
Say Good Morning to the Night (@ AO3)
Captain America (2011)/Batgirl (comic); Steph/Bucky; pg; 4,170 words
"If you're old news, doll, then I'm history."
I could talk about formerly dead sidekicks, and how Bucky sees echoes of Steve in Steph, but that is kind of self-evident, so I won't. It's mostly about waffles and makeouts. That was almost even the summary, but I was so pleased to have come up with the "old news" line - organically even - that I used it instead.
While I was writing this, I realized I still haven't written any Steph/Jason, which I really need to do (or Dick/Steph/Jason - oh my god, nobody would ever stop talking and the terrible, terrible puns... It would be AWESOME.). I just haven't figured out how yet. But I'm thinking about it. Ah, and the psychic iPod kicks in with this song. Perfect.
