My new house has an electric oven and I have to say, I don't like it as much as much (admittedly older and a lot less expensive) gas range. I mean, it looks pretty, but it's obviously for display only! I sadly discovered this when I was roasting chicken last night. :(

My mother swears she doesn't have these problems with the oven, but she also tells me I should just let her set it whenever I want to make something, and that I do it wrong and ... it's an oven. I should be able to turn the dial to a temperature and know that it's going to heat to that temperature! GIVE ME FIRE. None of this fancy electronic nonsense!

Ever since I moved to this new apartment 4 years ago I can't make corn bread that cooks in the middle. The only cakes I've made are from boxes and they seem to turn out ok. Now when I want to make cornbread I just do it in mini muffin pans. So many stove top applications are problematic as well. Especially roasting things like tortillas. There's just no substitute for real fire.

SERIOUSLY. i mean, I get that it probably needs recalibrating and that there is an adjustment between gas and electric, but I just want my stuff to COOK.
