I did end up making the
cinnamon doughnuts with vanilla cream cheese glaze (
pic) last night when I got home from work. They are really easy and fast, though I guess I filled the doughnut cups too much (it is a mini-doughnut pan) because the holes were all covered over on top. So they are more like the doughnut equivalent of a bialy. But tasty! And the vanilla cream cheese glaze really does taste like Cinnabon! Though next time I will use even less powdered sugar, I think. The recipe calls for 1/2 cup, and I used about 1/3 cup, but next time I will go with 1/4 cup. But I would definitely recommend the recipe. I also like that it doesn't make a huge quantity.

You've all seen
that video of Cap 2 filming in DC, right? It's all behind the scenes stuff, mostly of
Chris Evans looking like an actual comic book character, with some
Anthony Mackie thrown in. I already love how they interact; if that easy camaraderie translates to Steve and Sam, I will be very happy. Possibly I also died a little at the pushups and jumping jacks. And the fact that they're still dressing him in t-shirts that are two sizes too small. The wardrobe department knows where its bread is buttered, no lie.
Though I am pretending it's actually video surveillance taken by the Winter Soldier as he's stalking hunting Captain America, and he doesn't understand why he has this weird new feeling in his pants chest whenever he looks at him. *cough*
Then there is the news that
they're doing a Peggy Carter short that will be included with the Cap 2 blu-ray. \o/ ♥PEGGY♥
(this is one reason I wish they'd held off on adding Sharon to the mix? I feel like Peggy is still way too close, not just for Steve, but for the audience (especially if there are going to be flashbacks with her in the movie), for him to move on with her great-niece or however they're spinning the family relationship this time. Unless he doesn't know she's related to Peggy until after he's interested, but even then I feel like it's still too close. In the comics, he has several relationships before Sharon, so it never feels like he's just replacing the girl he lost with a close relation. [eta] in the comments,
dorothy1701 corrects my impression that Bernie came before Sharon. [/eta] I mean, there are other issues with the relationship in the comics (mostly about how Sharon's autonomy is repeatedly compromised but the narrative never deals with that), but this is the main problem I have with it in the movies, sight unseen. Also, Emily Van Camp still seems too young to me.)
Moving from Cap 2 to SHIELD,
here's the extended trailer if by chance you haven't seen it yet. I AM EXCITE.
bethbethbeth did a
rough transcript of it if you can't watch a video where you are atm.
I think the original internet conclusion that J. August Richards is playing Luke Cage - based on the hoodie, the superpowers, and the facial hair - is incorrect, because
he is wearing a lot of red, white and blue in that trailer, which often connotes a connection somehow to Captain America, and
he has that line about using a shield.
I would pay cashy money for Eli Bradley to show up in the MCU. I am not even joking. Could this be what Gillen meant when he said Patriot was unavailable but we'd be seeing him soon in some capacity? (Would he even know that? I guess if he'd asked to use Eli and was told no, he might have been given the reason. But this is all just wishful thinking.)
(Where Eli leads, can Kate be far behind? And given that Ant-Man is allegedly about Scott Lang rather than Hank Pym, that opens up the potential for Cassie, and Wanda and Pietro open up the possibility of Billy and Tommy, and I'm sure we can figure out a way to get Teddy in there. and if we have the Skrulls and the Kree, we can also have Carol Danvers and Abigail Brand. I AM JUST SAYING. HEY, MARVEL, LET ME RUN YOUR MOVIE DIVISION. I SWEAR IT WILL BE AWESOME.)
JAR's too old to be Eli, really? But I would take it, as long as he doesn't get killed off. Let's kill off smarmy white guy who is apparently our POV character. We don't need another smug white guy in this universe. And adult Eli doing the hero thing makes my heart happy.
Other possibilities include Rage, a superhero from Brooklyn who, according to wikipedia, scolds Captain America about the lack of black Avengers and gets to join the team for a while, and, my preferred possibility if I can't have Eli: Josiah X, who is Eli's uncle. According to wikipedia: While Isaiah was in prison, the government attempted to use his altered DNA to create another Super-Soldier. After 39 attempts they had a single success, which was Josiah. He was more or less Isaiah and Faith's genetic son, but born to a surrogate mother. His surrogate mother smuggled him out from under the government's watchful eye. He was raised in an orphanage and then ran off to join the army. (which is a nice parallel with Steve.)
Which would also be a way to get Truth: Red, White, and Black into the MCU and leave Eli for future movies (where he could be played by Sinqua Wells or Michael B. Jordan)? I dunno. But the color scheme JAR's wearing at the end there does suggest a Captain America connection.
Also, I am totally accepting the head canon that
this kid he saves is Miles Morales (though if he is Josiah X or Rage, that kid could be Eli. That would also be acceptable to me. Also, also, there is a Black Widow action figure in the MCU but apparently not one in real life? HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?)
Also, and this is not a spoiler, Ming-Na Wen looks FANTASTIC. ♥
Er, sorry about all the links to my tumblr, but it's easier to link to my reblogs than to track down the original posts here at work.
