So the Islanders are moving to Brooklyn. Well, if the NHL ever comes back. Sigh. I'm having brainfreeze from the number of potential jokes I could make here.

Here's a really interesting look at how the Nets are marketing Brooklyn and rebranding themselves. (I don't even like the Nets and I want that "No sleep till Brooklyn" t-shirt. Full ( Read more... )

The last book in that series is, um. Problematic? I love the series itself but certain aspects of the last book (maybe the second to last as well? can't remember) made me facepalm so badly I almost knocked out a tooth.

Well, I've been side-eying a few things as it goes, so I'm not surprised there's more problematic stuff coming. I already hate the demon pregnancy trope with the fire of a million volcanoes, so I'll just brace for more.

Well, it's not problematic in the offensive sense, actually? It's just that there's an aspect of the story that was, to many people (fans of king and otherwise), a hilariously bad decision.

> Other comics news, also from Grantland: apparently Clark Kent quit the Daily Planet? I feel like nothing Scott Lobdell says or writes shows any insight into any character at all, but I feel like they're just taking away everything loveable and interesting about Superman. #DC LOOK AT YOUR LIFE LOOK AT YOUR CHOICES

I don't really have feels about this, but your use of the hashtag reminded me that when I'm out transit'ing and mutter, "That's really the life choice that you're making?" at people, my brain went, "DC look at your life look at your choices" for weeks after I'd fallen off of Tumblr.

Heh. DC Editorial needs Sassy Gay Friend to tell it some home truths.

Isn't it? I totally want it.

And yeah, I thought it was a really interesting approach to get buy-in from the locals for a team that has mostly been a joke over the years.

Nah, Lobdell is still on RHatO (there's actually a new artist though, because Rocafort left for Superman, the new guy doesn't make things as pretty but he's passable).

As to his writing, I don't think I'll ever be sold on it 100% and every issue there are those small things that bug me, BUT it has improved to the point where you can read the title without wanting to gauge your eyes out and enjoy aspects of it, especially in Starfire's recent arc.

Anyway the Death of the Family event is coming, so Snyder and the other writers will probably have a big influence on what goes down in RHatO now... which might be good or not, because there seems to be some foreshadowing that really bad things are going to happen to Jason.

Well, that's good to know. Maybe one day I'll brace myself for it and catch up.
