give us time to work it out

So I finally posted the epic (shut up, 21k words is epic for me) sequel to Impact Winter:

Welcome to Wherever You Are (at AO3)
Avengers (2012); Steve/Bucky, Natasha, Darcy, Tony; adult; 21,000 words
Steve reaches out and hooks his fingers around Bucky's, holding on the way he didn't--couldn't--all those years ago.

On tumblr, I tagged this story #ALL STEVE'S BUCKY FEELS! #ALL OF THEM! Which is an apt summary.

I started this back in October because I wanted the hugging that canon denied me (there better be hugs in the movie!) and at the time, I described it as "Steve takes Bucky home to Brooklyn for cocoa, cuddling, and trembly comfort sex." And in the finished story, they do drink cocoa? And Steve cuts Bucky's hair! And they have a ridiculous tickle fight because I didn't want to write another sparring scene. But the rest kind of didn't happen the way I thought it would. I don't even know. I think I'm pleased with how it turned out. Or I will be, when I can bring myself to reread it again.

At some point, I folded in another wip that was covering some of the same emotional territory but was more fixated on the robot arm, which kind of fell by the wayside, but there should be more fic where Steve is totally into Bucky having a robot arm WHICH HAS HIS SHIELD PAINTED ON IT.

Anyway, speaking of Steve's Bucky feels, there were two* awesome Steve/Bucky vids that came out of Vividcon:

Carry On by
settiai, which is like a punch right in the feels (oh, Bucky! Oh, STEVE!), and which I got an extra special thrill from because the song was on my list of suggested Steve/Bucky vid songs. \o/

It's All Coming Back to Me Now by
greensilver, which is a comicsverse vid that is hilariously over the top (as befits a vid to Celine Dion and full of panels of Steve yelling, "BUCKY NOOOOOOOOO!"), and yet still completely and sincerely moving. I really did tear up in a couple places even as I was laughing at myself for it (for example, the image on the icon** on this post, where Steve goes and sits on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and cries after he's told once and for all that he cannot go back in time to rescue Bucky, despite his assertion that they wouldn't break the space-time continuum because THEY COULD LIVE AS HOBOES. STEVE DOESN'T CARE. If that's not true love, man, I don't know what is.).

So both of those are pretty fantastic and I recommend watching them.

*If there were more than two, I haven't seen the others. (But I would like to, if they exist!)

**From Captain America: Man Out of Time by Mark Waid, which is basically the story of Steve trying to get back to Bucky after he wakes up in the future.

In non-Steve/Bucky vids, I really liked Everything Is Wrong by
laurashapiro, which is a great look at Britta and how SHE IS THE BEST because she's awkward and faily and keeps trying to be a good person anyway.

And I totally SOBBED MY FACE OFF while watching The Adventure by
greensilver. NEVILLE FUCKING LONGBOTTOM FOR THE WIN. \o/
