that she might have a story of herself to tell

So my DVR decided not to record this morning's Young Justice, which sent me on an epic quest to view it, first legally, via hulu or iTunes or the cartoon network site, but it does not go up immediately and let's face it, my tumblr dash is already pretty empty because I've blocked all stuff tagged Avengers, and most of what's left is either Korra or YJ related, so I needed to see it before I could catch up on Tumblr. So I attempted a download, which took OVER AN HOUR and turned out to be an episode of "How I Met Your Mother" even though it was labeled Young Justice s2e1. I don't even know. (Korra recorded, and then, for some reason, the DVR recorded the show after it - Kung Fu Panda. Which... Say it with me now: I don't even know, you know? Technology is keen on thwarting me. *hands* I should have just watched when it was actually airing but I prefer to be able to ff through all the godawful commercials.)

So I finally found it on youtube and I think I watched all the segments in the right order, and I have very mixed feelings. I mean, NIGHTWING. CASSIE. ♥JAIME♥! But why the jump? What is the point of having the team makeup be radically different from the original comics version if you're just going to jump it to being Teen Titans version whatever? I don't get the narrative reasons for this, and it jumps over so much stuff I'm more interested in, like, says, Superboy's relationship with Superman, Dick and Wally's maturation, ROY'S CLONE (and his relationship with Kaldur), ARTEMIS GOING TO DICK'S SCHOOL. Like, why set up all this stuff in season 1 if you're never going to pay any of it off?

I'm sad to see M'Gann and Superboy broke up, though I do like the idea that just because you date someone at 14, you won't be with them forever, though it makes me wonder what they're going to do with Babs and Dick here, and also, WITH EVERYTHING THAT IS DIFFERENT, WHY COULDN'T CASS OR STEPH BE BATGIRL? I mean, I kind of get that they might not want to have a Cass and a Cassie in close proximity, but STEPH. COME ON. Otoh, is it wrong that I had a little thrill at getting to see Tim and Superboy working together? THEY ARE MY HARD AND FAST DCU OTP SO I GOT A LITTLE EXCITED OKAY?

Also, is it just me, or was Dick's "Don't die," to Tim meant to be a Jason reference? Because seriously, I REALLY WANTED JASON TO BE ROBIN. BEING ROBIN GIVES HIM MAGIC, OKAY? And I'm sad to see that YET AGAIN he's passed over in the animated universe. (I still like the idea that the second Red X on Teen Titans was Jason. I wish that had been explored more.)

Anyway, I hope to see Kaldur and Artemis soon. And find out what the hell is going on.

It was very nice to just relax and watch Legend of Korra after that. I am not sure yet how I feel about Asami and Asami/Mako, but they sure are pretty together. And I like her motorbike. And the scarf was his dad's. Oh, Mako. I just want to ruffle your hair.

I also want to give Korra ALL THE HUGS - she had a rough episode, and you can tell she's, pardon the expression, out of her element, because she's not used to being afraid, but she's also got nothing in her life if she's not a bender, if she's not the Avatar. And it was heartbreaking to see her trying to deal with that all on her own, and to be manipulated by Tarlok into being part of his squad, and then schooled by Amon and his chi-blockers. When she broke down crying at the end, I admit, I also got teary.

Of course, I was already a little sniffly because AANG. SOKKA. TOPH. FLASHBACK WHAT? Did they have a falling out over this Yakone (sp?) situation? Is that what was about? IS THAT WHY WE DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO SOKKA OR TOPH? I NEED MORE BACKSTORY, GUYS? COME ON!

Aw, Bolin and his flowers and cupcakes. I feel like Korra and Bolin are better as bros? And she's clearly not interested at the moment, and I'm not sure she's ever going to be? I feel like they are going with Mako/Korra as the endgame pairing, and I'm okay with that, but it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

More Lin Bei Fong please. Also, Ikki. "Why do you smell like a lady?" but as always, Meelo steals the show even offscreen: "MEELO, NO! THAT IS NOT A TOILET!" ♥

I also really liked last night's Fringe. I hope that's not the last we see of the Redverse (CHARLIE! PLEASE COME BACK!) but if it is, what a sendoff! The Olivia/Olivia scene was lovely, and Astrid and Altstrid's little wave, but oh man, Walter and Walternate was AMAZING. And Walter's fear that if they turned off the machine, Peter would disappear. I salute you, John Noble. You were fantastic.

Otoh, I'm not sorry to see Blue!Lincoln go, even if I find his reasons for choosing the other universe a little ishy. I don't know. I liked him better before his whole purpose was to be wet about losing Olivia. And let's face it, I always did like red!Lincoln better.

I was thrilled to see Nick Lane and the other cortexikids back. So glad to see this tying back to all that ZFT and early seasons stuff. I don't see how David Robert Jones can create a safe spot while he's destroying the universes, and I wonder if turning off the machine was his end goal - after all, he sent AltBroyles to do something to it.

I liked that there was a lot of focus on Olivia and all her strengths, and that there was no focus on the Peter/Olivia business that makes me all ragey. It looks like that might change next week. Sigh.

In other news, look at what amberlynne made for me:

♥♥♥♥♥

Because All This and Heaven Too is one of my Nick/Cassie songs.

She had to show it to me last night, because as of right now, we are ENEMIES!

Lastly, a poem:

History

Even Eve, the only soul in all of time
to never have to wait for love,
must have leaned some sleepless nights
alone against the garden wall
and wailed, cold, stupified, and wild
and wished to trade-in all of Eden
to have but been a child.

In fact, I gather that is why she leapt and fell from grace,
that she might have a story of herself to tell
in some other place.
