teenage superheroes and assassin babies
Dear yuletide writer:
First of all, I want to say a big thank you for agreeing to write a story for me. I love all the characters I've chosen, so I will be happy with a story for any request. If you've already got a story in mind, then go for it! I'm sure it will be fabulous. These are all just possible jumping off points if you feel the need.
Since it's entirely possible we don't know each other, I figured I'd give you some tips on the kinds of things I like/dislike in stories:
Likes: banter, people who are friends having fun/adventures together, humor, reunionating, and hopeful endings. I also like stories that make me all achy in the chestal area. If you can make me laugh and cry at the same time, I will follow you around with hearts in my eyes.
If you're writing sex, I like it when it's fun and a little awkward, but that's okay because everybody's having a good time. If they're bantering and laughing during sex, that is my favorite. I especially like it when people exchange I love yous without actually saying the words.
Dislikes: I'd really rather not have stories that are super-dark and angsty. I really dislike despair. I need some kind of hope, some light at the end of the tunnel. I have a huge embarrassment/humiliation squick, so please avoid that. Please also avoid rape, non-con, and graphic sexual violence.
Mostly, I want the characters to sound like themselves and have fun hanging out with each other, because I love hanging out with them. Most of the characters I've chosen this year are friends and/or partners, and I enjoy basking in their friendship, especially if it's bantery and draws on their history together.
In terms of specifics, I feel like I am really just reiterating my requests in different words, but maybe this will be helpful:
Hanna: Hanna Heller, Sophie
I'm super curious to see how Hanna handles herself in the world, and I would love to see her hook up with Sophie again, either as friends or as girlfriends. It's hard out there for a teenage assassin!
Blue Beetle: Jaime Reyes, Brenda Del Vecchio, Paco Tejas
While I OT3 Jaime/Paco/Brenda hard and would love to see fic about them in that way, gen about them is awesome too, because I adore their bantery, pop-culture-filled BFFness! (I'm also very fond of Traci 13, so don't feel it's necessary to exclude her on my account!) I love how Paco and Brenda support Jaime's superheroing and also are willing to pick up arms (or sticks) to fight with/for him when necessary (obv. this is pre-reboot). Really, anything at all with all three of them would make me happy (please, no Jaime/Paco without Brenda). I'm very fond of the Reyes family in general, so I'm pretty easy to please here.
Young Allies: Rikki Barnes, Anya Sofia Corazon
OMG RIKKI AND ANYA BEING AWESOME YAY. Um, really, that is all I want. If they are awesome girlfriends, that would be SUPER but if they are awesome BFFs without sexytimes, I am all for that, too, as long as they're doing it (whatever it may be) together.
If that doesn't appeal, a story about Rikki and Natasha, and what Natasha thinks of Rikki (and, perhaps, what she's shared with Bucky about Rikki), would be great. Or, and it makes me sad that the comics never went there, a story about a meeting between Bucky and Rikki (where they each know who the other is) that explores how they feel about that would also be great. Really, though, I am not picky, mostly because I love Rikki and Anya so much and there is a sad dearth of fic about them.
Young Avengers: Kate Bishop, Eli Bradley
I love Kate and I love Eli and I love their relationship and the tension between them about becoming a couple while leading the team, so really anything with them being their awesome badass selves would make me happy. If you wanted to include romantic antics, that would be great (they definitely have an old-school screwball comedy vibe about them), but if you just want to write them being bickery friends who are also superheroes, that would be great too.
Young Avengers and Young Allies share a universe, and I love crossovers, so if that's something you like, well, rest assured that I like it, too! And not just for Young Avengers and Young Allies. Jaime and Anya have some stuff in common (blue bugs yay!), so if you wanted to cross them over, I would totally enjoy that, as well.
(As a completely out there longshot, if you are interested in wacky ideas (since they don't ever actually meet in canon that I'm aware of), if you were moved to write, say, the Awesome Bro-ventures of Paco Tejas and Kon-El, I would absolutely flail with glee, especially if it included Jaime and Brenda (and Tim?) facepalming over their dorky bro-ness.)
Basically feel free to go nuts with the teenage superheroes and/or assassin babies, however your heart leads you.
So, to sum up. You are awesome for writing a story for me! I'm sure the story you write will be awesome!
