i'll pretend my ship's not sinking

So I'm attempting to write this Bruce/Diana story and dear god, Bruce, Wonder Woman wants to make out with you! You want to make out with her! Stop weaseling around like an idiot because you can't get yourself out of your ~forever alone~ mindset. (spoiler: I did eventually get them to kiss, but I kind of hate the whole thing in the harsh light of day.) Ugh. Why did I choose to write a story featuring two characters I find exceedingly difficult to write? *looks at other wsip* Oh, right. I was stalled on everything else.

A couple of weeks ago,
glass_icarus posted about bags, and I am weak. My dad and sister are jacket people, but I am a bag and shoes person, and oh god, the links in the comments of that post! *covets*

Since it's back-to-school time, even though I have been out of school for 20 years, I normally do some minor back-to-school shopping (usually along the lines of new underwear, new boots, and a new bag. I have needs, okay?), so I checked out all the links and found the Haiku To-Go bag in black with burgundy (that's not quite the color but I'm having a hard time coming up with what exactly it is) decorations.

I've been using it for a week now, and it fits my iPad, my breakfast and lunch (I pack in ziplock bags, though; if you use tupperware of some sort, it probably wouldn't work as well for you), my wallet, my sunglasses, my notebook and tissues and lipsticks etc. Plus, the two front pockets under the flap are meant for phone and iPod, and they work really well. I also keep my metrocard in one of them, for easy access. I also like the little key hook, so I don't have to fumble for my keys. The only thing I haven't tried yet are the water-bottle pouches on the sides, but that day is coming.

So far, I have to say, I really like it. I was tempted by the larger messenger bag types, but I know that the bigger the bag, the more useless stuff I will toss into it, until I'm carrying around a ton of crap that I don't need. (see every other bag I've ever used, except the tiny purse I bought at Target last summer, which actually fit a lot more [necessary] stuff than you would expect, but which won't work come winter, and with which I had to use a tote bag to carry my breakfast/lunch/water bottle/iPad/book/whatever.)

I also got the Scoop (also in black with red flowers - I like the turquoise color a lot, but didn't like the way the color of the flowers showed up on it), which I used while i was on vacation last week, since I didn't need the room to carry my lunch etc. and it's cool, too. It also fits my stuff without really having room for an extra crap that might otherwise accumulate.

Both have straps that make them good cross-body bags, which I prefer, as no handbag has ever managed to stay on my shoulder for longer than three seconds, but you can shorten or lengthen the strap as you choose.

So I call this a success. I would recommend either of these to anyone looking for a new bag, and I will definitely be shopping there again.

In other news, even though this is the last Friday of the summer with early dismissal, I am probably going to have to stay until 5 because of my co-workers. Lovely. Ugh.
