Things! And also, stuff!

♦ Story is finished and off to beta, 5100 words later. I don't even know, but I think Kon might be my soulmate.

♣ Of course, I had to get up half an hour after I went to bed to add another line that cracked me up. That one is probably actually funny. The rest? Not so much.

♪ So Eddie Vedder put out an album of ukelele songs (idek) and now he's on tour. Oh, Eddie, I still love you, even if I don't always understand you. I can't believe Cameron Crowe is doing a 20th anniversary documentary retrospective on Pearl Jam. I feel really old now. Man, I still remember the first time I ever heard "Alive," and how I told everyone I knew that this band Pearl Jam was going to be big and they all looked at me like I was crazy. (Huh, I have a "dulli is god" tag but no Eddie Vedder tag.)

♪ from Spin's tribute to Clarence Clemons:
When Lady Gaga's straight-outta-1986 video for "The Edge of Glory" premiered last Friday, Little Monsters everywhere were briefly flummoxed that the clip's lone extravagance was a man sitting on a fake stoop, barely lit, miming a saxophone solo. One can only assume that Clarence Clemons would never have planned for this to be his final statement as a performing artist, but it's safe to say that more people under the age of 20 learned his name from his appearance on this single than from 40 years as Bruce Springsteen's foil. And that's fantastic. Because if the ensuing curiosity compels just .001% of her slavishly devoted fans to dive into YouTube's glorious wormhole of vintage "Rosalita" live clips, then she's gonna go to heaven, guaranteed.

✩ I was very productive last night! Not only did I finish a story, I made egg white mini-frittatas for this week's lunch (beat 6 egg whites, 2 tablespoons of milk, a sprinkling of garlic and onion powder, and some grated parmesan, pour into greased muffin cups, top with grated mozzarella and bake for 15-18 minutes at 350°F). I found them too eggy with whole eggs, but with just the whites? Good stuff.

They did not stay that puffed up, but I'm sure they'll taste good. And the thing about these is that they taste better after they've sat out for a while and gotten to room temperature.

Then I baked this cherry dessert thing that is more custard than cake, but is very tasty. It will be breakfast for the rest of the week, or however long it lasts without going bad.

I guess I'll actually do some work now. Sigh.
