without you there aren't reasons left to find

Holy crap, it's like the AV Club read my mind. I don't actually pay attention to the editorial discussions or decisions etc. over there, but I kept hoping they would decide to review AtLA this summer under the Classic banner, and they are! I haven't actually read the first one yet, and the reviewer's name isn't ringing any bells, but I am excited, nonetheless, because I love to read about things I love written by people who also love them. I am very tired and am not sure that sentence makes sense, but hopefully you know what I mean. As with any site on the internet, be wary in the comments, though I've found the grossest trollery is usually pretty easy to spot and avoid, and the regular commenters are otherwise pretty smart, at least for the shows I follow over there.

Retirement luncheon was a success! The food was fantastic, as is to be expected at Tribeca Grill, but seriously, I am not used to eating that kind of lunch (goat cheese raviolini, grilled hanger steak in Romesco sauce, some kind of fancy grilled chicken with salad [they called it a grilled chicken salad, but it was more like succulent slices of grilled chicken lying on a bed of greens than any kind of chicken salad I have ever encountered]), and then a lovely dessert table full of cookies, petits fours, and fruit). So good. Plus, the engraving on the gift was thankfully correct (the e had an accent, as it was supposed to; it was a thing), which we hadn't been able to check ahead of time, since they wrapped it up like a gift and neither the boss nor I were willing to undo all of that to check.

Now I'm back at work and trying desperately not to fall asleep at my desk from the food coma and the boring discussion of pension plan investment funds I'm supposed to be writing up.
