and the rumor of rain in the late afternoon

Call me a wimp, but I slid down the front stoop this morning to take the garbage out, freezing rain pinging off the top of my head, and said, forget this, man, I'm staying home. Which I did, because 3/4" of ice is no joke. I'm not as young as I used to be, and as my dad likes to point out, I have a tendency to fall down even when there isn't 3/4" of ice on the ground.

I enjoyed last night's White Collar, mostly because I love it when Peter is smart and when he gets protective of Neal, and also that Neal was like, "If it were your son or my son" like there is no question in Neal's mind that they are family already. Oh, heart.

I don't think the business with Neal's dad was handled well - I can understand why he might worry about Peter judging his dirty cop dad, but let's face it, a con man is made of betrayal, so I'm not sure Neal would be ashamed of a dad who betrayed his fellow cops. I mean, typically speaking, if he cared that much about it, I don't think he'd end up on the con himself, you know? Which is probably too much psychology for this show to begin with, but it jarred. If his dad had been a thug, then yeah - Neal's got a taste for nice things, and if his father were violent and brutish, I can see Neal becoming, well, Neal Caffrey, with his Devore suits and his taste for fine wine and expensive jewelry, because class aspirations make sense, even if he remains on the criminal side of things.

Of course, we don't know how much of that, if any, was the truth. I did get the impression from his conversation with Mozzie that Neal's dad isn't dead, but I could have misinterpreted that. I suppose even this show couldn't be immune to characters with daddy issues. Sigh.

Also, Mozzie was apparently raised in the foster system and doesn't know his parents. Mozzie remains awesome, no matter how you slice it. "It's a smoking jacket." Indeed, Mozzie. INDEED.

Plus, we got shirtless!Neal and tanktop&sweaty!Neal, which was really more than I could have hoped for. *sigh*

Best part of the episode was Peter's, "Did she wear hats?" about Neal's mom. Hee!

The Good Wife

Almost an entire episode about Cary, from his POV, and man, I still like him. Holy crap, show, how do you do that? Though I'm sorry, neither he nor Blake is intimidating enough for me to see that standoff as anything but hilarious (it's Lyla Garrity's two non-Tim Riggins boyfriends facing off! Hee!). Kalinda is more intimidating than they are, at about half the size.

I love that Cary is still trying to help her out even as he's working against Lockhart/Gardner.

Eli! My god, that scene with Becca was both horrible and awesome. And then his apology to Alicia, which I felt was actually honest. Wow.

And then Alicia blows off Peter's declaration of love, though I was afraid for a moment they were going to have her stick her head out of the bedroom and beckon him back there. So I don't know.

I also liked Will and Diane's acting when Bond saw them together. I like it best when they are on the same team.
