for scavengers like me

I went to bed early last night in anticipation of going to work today, but I woke up at about 4 am with chills and aches and fever, so I spent another day huddled on the couch, though I definitely feel better now than I did last night at this time, even though every time I cough, it feels like the back of my head might blow off. Unfortunately, I cough a lot. It's a thing.

So today I watched a bunch of JLU, and yay! Shayera! I didn't expect to like her as much as I do, but I really, really do. And also the one where Batman sings! And the one where they get turned into kids and GL is like, "Your girlfriend is bossy!" to him about Diana, and he's just like, "..." Because they need to have so much sex, omg! Er, not while they are kids. You know what i mean. (I'm sure Selina would understand.)

I'm still meh on all these other characters. I liked the original group of seven and the relationships that developed between them. I don't really care about Booster Gold or Hawk and Dove or whoever. Also, needs more Flash.

Then I watched Batman/Superman: Public Enemies, which was possibly the slashiest thing I've seen in ages. Dear god, could they be any more married? I know, it's right there in the title, already slashed for your enjoyment. There's actually a moment at the end, after Superman rescues Batman where there's this really abrupt cut from Batman getting out of the spaceship to the two of them on the roof, and I swear to god, there was some making out that got cut. that is the only possible explanation. (I'm sure Lois understands.) the whole movie plays like Batman is grumpy because Superman spends more time with Lois than with him, and then the whole fight between Superman and Lex plays like Lex is upset Superman dumped him for Batman and Lois. "That was MY BEST FRIEND." Aw, Clark, you can call him your boyfriend. We all know it's true. And the kid, Hiro, obviously ships them too, because the rocket! Half Superman and half Batman. Ahahahahaha!

The one thing I did find jarring though was Starfire's presence. What was she even doing in this movie? She never even spoke! All I could think was about how sad Dick would be to see her and Superman fighting. Though I suppose battling the in-laws could totally be a Tamaranian custom.

Otoh, I did enjoy Amanda Waller PWNING Lex, much as she pwned Bruce in one of the JLU eps I watched earlier. So she's a bad guy. She still kicks ass. (Her disgusted face when Lex kissed her! *dies*)

Plus, it had Allison Mack as uh, Power Girl? She was quite boobtacular.

Then I watched Batman/Superman: Apocalypse, which is a direct sequel to Public Enemies, though I thought Power Girl was Kara from another dimension or something? And then I stopped trying to figure out canon because not only does ANDRE FUCKING BRAUGHER voice Darkseid (WHY SPELL IT LIKE THAT? WHY?), SUMMER GLAU is SUPERGIRL. HOW PERFECT IS THAT? (I'd like to think they were parodying the whole naked confused lost girl schtick with her, but I'm guessing not.)

This movie wasn't quite as Batman/Superman-heavy, though there were definitely a few moments, and also very threesome-y with Wonder Woman (I love when she's all, "boys, boys, you're both pretty!" to get them to stop bickering), but it was very girlslashy, first with Kara and her Amazon friend Lyla, and then with Wonder Woman and Barda. OMG HOW BADASS ARE THEY? like, why would you even try to fight them? IT'S FUCKING WONDER WOMAN. BE PREPARED TO GET YOUR ASS KICKED. Seeing how awesome she was in this - and how awesome Barda was! How come I've never heard of her before? And she was all, "You're my inspiration" to Diana. I totally had heart-eyes over that - makes me SO SAD that Hollywood can't seem to get off its collective ass to make a Wonder Woman movie, because she is SO AWESOME. Gina Torres is still in great shape, people. Get on that!

So yeah, that was my day. Then I made some mac and cheese for dinner and it was good. And ugh, I have to go wash the dishes now.

Oh, and last night, I made risotto and it was good and really easy. I recommend it if you're not into standing and stirring for forty minutes.
