she came from the grave much graver

Oct 31, 2010 12:57

Happy Halloween to those of you celebrating. It's my mother's 75th birthday today, so yesterday we had a big family dinner and cake, and also celebrated my niece's 12th birthday, which is this upcoming Wednesday. So that was nice, but tiring, so I've gotten absolutely no writing done. Sigh. I will settle into a writing routine again at some point. I hope.

Which I guess brings us to the monthly writing roundup:

October 2010 Writing Roundup

The Rigelian Reproduction Ritual
The Middleman; The Middleman/Wendy; adult; spoilers through the unaired finale; contains consent issues; 2,682 words
In which aliens make them do it.

untitled #27
White Collar; Peter/Neal/Elizabeth; pg-13? it's mostly implication; 252 words
Peter always did have a type.

Have You Heard the One About...
Under the Red Hood; Dick/Jason; pg; 1,495 words
"Have you heard the one about--" "I already told you, I've heard them all."

Easy as Pie
Supernatural; Sam and Dean; pg; 1,405 words
In which Dean has a brilliant idea that even Sam (reluctantly) agrees is brilliant. Also, there is pie.

You know, if this is the last SPN story I write (at least for a while), I'm more than okay with it being a happily ever after futurefic featuring the Winchesters running a PIE TRUCK.

Like the hand of a thief
Under the Red Hood; Dick/Jason; adult; 1,060 words
The thing about Dick is that you can't hold onto him.

Top 5 7 Songs - October 2010

7. A Thousand Suns - Tom McRae
From this fossil of a heart
I hear a beating sound
my love
As they put you in the ground
It's like one of us woke up
my love

6. American Slang - The Gaslight Anthem
Look what you started,
I seem to be coming out of my skin
Look what you've forgotten here
The bandages just don't keep me in
And when it was over, I woke up alone
And when it was over, I woke up alone

5. The Backseat - The Gaslight Anthem
In the backseats of burned out cars.
In the disenchantment lane.
The ideal angels twist and turn,
And ask forgiveness for future mistakes.
But you and I we've been through this.
Maybe a hundred times before.
Always hitching rides with strangers.
Papa warned us about before

4. Augustine - Vienna Teng
In sand and thorns
I'm walking forth
Bare and blinking as the day that I was born
Bells in spires of China white
Ring for an Augustine tonight

3. Kansas - Vienna Teng
It's not regret
Just an unexpected accounting of debts
Only now called
No it's not regret
Just remembrance is all
Of how close we had come
The war almost won
But I sent up our flag and moved on

2. He's Not a Boy - The Like
Even when he lies he means every word he says
His delusions find their way inside your head
And he knows that beauty lies
But he likes it by his side
Just to take it for a ride until the mystery dies

1. Under the Sheets - Ellie Goulding
This is our luck, baby, running out
Her clothes were never off
We still have our lives to run about
To scale the mountain, scale the mountain, to get us back on track
I've seen you in a fight you lost, I've seen you in a fight

I don't even know where October went. This whole year has been speeding by. Sigh.
