Icon Meme 2: The Icon Meme Returns

- Reply to this post with the words "BY THE ANTI-CLOCKWISE PROPELLER OF ICARUS!" (or whatever; I don't even know what that means) and I will pick six of your icons.
- Make a post (including this info) and talk about the icons I chose.
- Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
- This will create a never ending cycle of icon glee.

silveronthetree chose these icons for me to talk about:

(icon by

keyword: It's good to be the queen
Lucy Pevensie! How adorable is she? And she is wise to your shenanigans, buddy. Trust me on that. Do not fuck with her. She may be little, but she's fierce.

keyword: honour demands it
For a while, I had a Norrington icon with this keyword, because duh, but I wasn't really thrilled with what happened to him in the last movie, and while I thought Pirates of the Caribbean and I might have a summer fling, I never did write anything in it, and so my icons from it got switched out pretty quickly. This one seemed a perfect fit for that slot, since I like keeping my icon keywords in rotation, which means I try not to tie them specifically to characters' names. Anyway, I use this icon when discussing things like pirates or ninjas or The Princess Bride or when questions of honor arise and must be satisfied. Also, it's pretty.

keyword: one day you'll be cool
Embarrassingly, for years, I thought this was Fairuza Balk, but it's actually Zooey Deschanel. Anyway, I love this icon - the colors pop and the caption can be either comforting or mocking, depending on context. I usually use it when I'm mocking myself for not being cool. I should use it more, though, because it's a gorgeous icon.

(icon by me)
keyword: always all right
&Jay;!
Ahem.
This is from a scan from the Red Hood: Lost Days comic (which I have not read yet), wherein Jason learns that he has been replaced as Robin. Talia, knowing what a huge blow this has to be, asks him if he's all right, and he tries to play it off, saying, "Sure. Why wouldn't I be all right?" (i.e., the panel on the icon), and then in the next scene, when he's by himself, he's all weepy-angry at the pictures of Tim-as-Robin on his wall (yeah, he hangs the pictures on the wall so he can stare at them while he weeps. I am not even kidding.). It pretty much makes me want to hug him and feed him cookies and tell him that it will be all right eventually.

The keyword is, of course, Alec's signature phrase on Dark Angel. He says he's always all right, even though it is a total LIE a lot of the time, because he's a mess, but he can't let anyone else see his weakness.

On the continuum of sociopaths as played by Jensen Ackles, I think Jason is way closer to Alec than he is to Ben, and there are similarities between Alec and Jason that made this feel like the perfect keyword. Because Jason is so not all right, and it should be obvious to anyone who's met him post-resurrection, but he's gonna keep pretending that he is, because what else can he do? ♥Jason♥

keyword: if it's a temporary lull
This is from Under the Hood. There's a scene where Dick and Jason - excuse me, Nightwing and Red Hood - face off and exchange a few punches, and this is the beginning of that, where they're circling each other and sizing each other up. (So, if you live in my head, this is, like, foreplay for them, though it's before Dick knows it's Jason.) Sadly, there's no corresponding scene in the animated version, which is a shame (just imagine the lost opportunity! NPH and Jensen snarking amusing tough guy dialogue at each other!). Anyway, I was totally not going to scan the scene in and make my own icon, but
balloon made it for me!

The keyword comes from the song "I'll Be You," by the Replacements. Probably because I thought "you be me for a while and I'll be you" was too on the nose. *snerk* Also, I guess any sex détente between them would necessarily be a temporary lull, given their, um, differing crime-fighting philosophies. Still, I ship it pretty hard.

(icon by shinystar90)
keyword: worth a thousand words
Kalinda with her camera! ♥ Kalinda is the AWESOME in-house detective at Lockhart, Gardner & Bond, the law firm on The Good Wife. If there is dirt truth to be found, she will find it. No stone is left unturned when she's on the case, and if she's a little, um, ethically challenged in some of her methodology, it only makes me love her more. (There's a reason I ship her with Veronica Mars. Ethically challenged lady detectives for the win!) She's extremely private and tolerates no poking into her business, but she and Alicia (and she and Diane) have become friends. She's a tiny badass who likes to wear leather and use people's preconceptions of her against them to get the information she's looking for. I love her A LOT.

As always, feel free to ask me about my icons, because as you can see, I do like talking about them.

silveronthetree also linked to scans from the All Robins issue of Tiny Titans and 1. How adorable is that? The adorableness cannot be encompassed by mere words. and 2. How did I not know such adorableness actually existed? *dies of the cute*

In the same vein, she and
splash_the_cat both pointed me at The Black Cat's Mr. Bat-Mom cartoon, which is EXACTLY the kind of adorable ridiculousness I am looking for in sequential art. You can keep your punch-ups and wacky villains and epic manpain and crime-fighting. I want Batman wearing an apron and do-rag while dealing with domesticity and four rambunctious boys while Alfred is laid up with the flu. Baby!Terry is the most adorable thing I have seen in a long time.

What can I say? I'm a simple woman, with simple yet lolarious needs.
