and the day would keep its trust

Is it wrong to be amused that as of right now, on AO3, the 252-word Peter/Elizabeth/Neal ficlet I wrote has 254 hits (and no comments)? For comparison, the three other stories I've posted there in October have 23, 24, and 26 hits, respectively. (And also no comments.) I don't know why I find that hilarious, but I do. (And hey, four stories, four fandoms! go me!)

Last night, I had a bout of stress baking, and ended up making this lovely sour cream coffee cake. Except I made it with yogurt, because that's what I had in the fridge. And I cut it back to 8 oz (from 12 oz), because that's all that was left in the container. Oh, and I used Presto (self-rising cake flour) instead of AP flour and omitted the baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Also, I don't know how thinly they spread the batter out, but it did not look like it was going to cover one layer of a 9x13" pan, let alone two, so I made it in a 10x10" pan.

Here is the first layer with the layer of cinnamon sugar:

This is the top layer, ready to go into the oven:

And here it is when it came out:

Once I cut into it, I realized I did make the bottom layer too thick, but omg SO TASTY! Would bake again. Maybe even with the sour cream in the correct amount next time. *snerk*

Those of you who clicked on the link to my new tumblr saw the finished version last night. As I said, I don't know what I'm going to do with the tumblr yet except look at pictures of stuff I like, but I'm going to try really hard not to check it at work at all. Also, it will likely be mostly pictures of stuff I bake, at least to start with. And no cats. Possibly I should add that to the description: "cooking, cool stuff, and no cats." Heh. I was tempted to make the description "Chicks dig the long ball," but I think that would set up expectations I have no intention of living up to. I figure it's something I can point to as a presence on the internet that doesn't link directly to here, so it's safe for non-fannish people.

Also! Someone already used the name "in the kitchen at parties," which was my first choice (are you earwormed now? I totally am), though I think cacchieressa is possibly more me - my high school Italian teacher used to call me "la cacchieressa," which means "the chatterbox" - and more in line with what I'll end up using the thing for anyway. I have a feeling it will be eating up most of my weekend. Heh.

I also started an Avatar: the Last Airbender rewatch last night, doing the abbreviated season 1 (i.e., the first four episodes and the last four episodes). Sokka is still my right-out-of-the-box favorite ("I'm just a guy with a boomerang." ♥), but now I love everybody right from the start! Except Zhao. But I'm not supposed to love him, so that's okay.

Tonight, since I have no cable and will have to wait for SPN to become available, I'll probably start on season 2 with The Blind Bandit. Toph! ♥
