in the disenchantment lane

So I was reading this Fringe story this afternoon, and it was pretty good; it was all about how Olivia was awesome and strong, but then Peter rescued her from the Other Side and I had to click out, because that is not how that is supposed to go, imo. I really, really hope the show doesn't screw that up in season 3. Because Peter is the professional hostage in this relationship, and Olivia is the rescuer, and while I don't mind if she has help (say, from Elizabeth Bishop and/or alt!Charlie and/or her mom), I really don't want Peter riding to her rescue at all.

I knew I felt that way to some degree, but the immediate DO NOT WANT reaction I had to this otherwise good story made me realize that it's VERY IMPORTANT to me that Olivia continue to be allowed to rescue herself and be the action hero(ine) while Peter and the others are her supporting cast.

And speaking of Olivia being a kickass action hero, I have watched this AWESOME Olivia vid, Boom Boom Pow, a ton of times. You should watch it too! Because OLIVIA DUNHAM IS MORE AWESOME THAN YOU. <3

So as I continue to listen to the Gaslight Anthem, I'm doing that thing where each song suddenly takes its turn in the spotlight, and apparently right now, it's time for The Backseat (which aside from somehow reminding me of Backstreets, mostly on the strength of the rhyme [I never said my associations made a lot of sense] [also, it has the line, 'but you and I have been through this,' which is never not going to remind me of "All Along the Watchtower," despite the 'this' instead of a 'that']), also contains this gem of a verse:

And in the wild desert sun,
we drove straight on through the night.
We rode a fever out of Boston.
Dreamed of California nights.
Come July, we'll ride the Ferris wheel.
Go round and round and round.
And if you never let me go,
well, I will never let you down.

Every time I hit those last two lines, I go, "Oh, Dean..."

*sigh*

and clearly the bit about finding room for their knees is about Sam. *snerk*

Seriously, they are like the Winchesteriest band ever.

(though I must admit, High Lonesome has also made it onto my Jason playlist, because "I always kinda sorta wish I'm someone else," makes me think of him now, and also the opening verse and the ending, though the "classic cars and outlaw cowboy bands" line is still Dean, and possibly the bit about looking like Elvis, also. There's some overlap, is what I'm saying.)
