you started this fire down in my soul

Aug 23, 2010 10:28

My commuter karma is apparently in flux - over the past couple of days I missed several buses and gave up waiting on their follow-ups in favor of walking; otoh, the subway pulled in this morning as I was walking through the turnstile, and even though I missed the crosstown bus yesterday evening, an empty, on duty (!!) cab pulled up, even though it was raining (!!!). I feel like right now, I'm breaking even.

I had a lovely, if unexpectedly expensive dinner with fleurdeleo last night at Mezzaluna. Also, I misread the menu and expected my pistachio semifreddo to be smothered (or possibly drowned) in chocolate, and it was not, but otherwise, dinner was good.

I tried to explain to her why I am suddenly shipping Dick Grayson/Jason Todd, but as it's nearly inexplicable to me, that did not go so well. Mostly, she mocked me. So, you know, like every other meal we've ever eaten together. My life, so hard.

Then I came home and watched Leverage. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ I don't think it matters that each version of the story was mostly telegraphed; I enjoyed watching all of them go through their paces.

icon meme!

- Reply to this post with the phrase I LOVED YOU ACROSS TIME and I will pick six of your icons.
- Make a post (including this info) and talk about the icons I chose.
- Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
- This will create a never ending cycle of icon glee.

Or, pick some more of my icons and ask me to talk about them, because I've added some new ones recently and I love talking about my icons!

amathela chose these icons:

keyword: genghis khan could bring it on
icon by slodwick
Jeremy Goodwin wins at life! This is the scene where he's trying to win back what's her name - the porn star/choreoanimator - and being exceptionally Jeremy-like. So even though I totally ship Natalie/Jeremy, this is a good Jeremy moment. I also use it as my geeky icon, because Jeremy is a definitely one of us. ♥ The keyword comes from something he said in the episode where they're trying to determine who the athlete of the millennium is - I believe he says "Genghis Khan could bring it!" but I always misquote it as "Genghis Khan could bring it on!" Just so you know, Genghis Khan is my second favorite megalomaniacal world conqueror. So this is a phrase I use when things are going well.

keyword: turn the world on with a smile
icon by neversince
Because it's Cordelia Chase! Looking lovely and slyly skeptical of your nonsense. The keyword is because of her life in the Birthday-AU, where she was the new Mary Tyler Moore.

keyword: crazy space incest
icon by me
Simon and River looking particularly lovely from the movie. I feel like this image encapsulates their relationship as much as the pyre scene from "Safe," and is much easier to icon since it's not totally dark. I love this whole sequence in the movie - the washed out blues and sharp whites, the circling camera, and River on her knees praying to be made a stone (and Simon, of course, is her rock and anchor).

keyword: not inclined to resign to maturity
by angelgazing
The keyword is from the Psych theme song, and I think this was either a promo shot or poster for the show, and it's just Gus and Shawn being Gus and Shawn (i.e., Shawn doing his faux-psychic thing and Gus being like, "you know that's right") and man, they are SO TOTALLY MARRIED YOU GUYS IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY.

keyword: it's all in the caffeine
icon by symm76
It's Crews and Reese and a specialty coffee beverage! Keyworded with one of my favorite lines ever from Homicide: Life on the Street: "Heart has nothing to do with it anymore; it's all in the caffeine." Because Crews and Reese are a fantastic partnership and I *heart* them so much and miss this show. Sigh. Reese is wise to your shenanigans, Charlie, and she will not be placated with a large cup of coffee. Well, maybe she will be. It all depends.

keyword: duct tape makes you smart
icon by iluvpiratesavvy
I watched the pilot of "Burn Notice" and was completely won over when Michael said, "Guns make you stupid. Duct tape makes you smart." And then he used duct tape to take over the world defeat some drug dealers. *draws sparkly hearts around him* I love Michael Westen because he is smart, competent, ruthless, and not a little confused by this whole having an actual life thing that seems to be happening to him in Miami. Not to mention how hot he looks in those sunglasses and suits.

Your turn! Ask me about my icons, or ask me to ask you about yours!
