You know what's currently driving me nuts? Fic in the Leverage fandom because in one scene we'll have Eliot, Hardison, Parker, the hitter, the hacker, the thief, the blonde, the long-haired man, the taller man, the computer wiz, the fighter, the pickpocket...it goes on and on and on and the only thing I'm thinking is damn, who knew you could fit that many people in one bed? And I know very well that isn't what the writer is meaning.

I mean, there are times and places to play with people's names and how they refer to themselves or each other - the switch from Sam to Sammy, or from Moony to Remus for example - that has meaning in a story. But just randomly using a lot of descriptors because you don't want to repeat the person's name a lot and can't figure out the pronouns is just poor writing.
