Day 01 - A show that should have never been canceled
Day 02 - A show that you wish more people were watching

Day 03 - Your favorite new show (aired this TV season)

I could say White Collar, and it might be true, but then there's The Good Wife, which I didn't expect 1. to be good, or 2. to like, but which is utterly fantastic, even if I don't have quite the emotional investment in it I do in other shows. But I think I'm going to say Treme (I still need to watch last Sunday's episode; it's been pushed aside by my sudden descent into watching Fringe). I really love Ladonna and Toni and Antoine and Big Chief Lambreaux and Janette and her hot sous chef Jacques, who I hope doesn't disappear, because he is awesome. I love the awkward local cameos that I don't always get, and the musicians and the music, dear god, the music. I love that the city is a character, the music is a character, that this is a show that couldn't be set anywhere else. That it's about tragedy and its aftermath without feeling exploitative of the place or the people (again, this might feel different to people who actually live there). I love how everything is intertwined - it doesn't feel contrived or programmatic, so far at least - and if I could do without Sonny, and to a lesser extent, Davis, well, there's a large cast and I sit through them to get to the awesome Ladonna or Antoine moments. The writing is good and the acting is great. I highly recommend it. I still need to upload an icon.

Last night, I took a super-amazing nap when I got home from work, and it makes me crazy that I can sleep so quickly and deeply at 6:30 in the evening, but when I stay up and go to bed at 11:30 pm like I'm "supposed to," I lie awake for 40 minutes to an hour sometimes before I fall asleep, and I wake up a lot. Crazy-making!

Anyway, after I got up, I made chocolate cupcakes for fleurdeleo, because she had surgery earlier this week, but I didn't have enough confectioners sugar for the frosting, so I'll have to make that today when I get home this afternoon. I also have to go get my eyes dilated and hopefully pick up my new glasses (um, I would imagine I will test out the new glasses if they're ready before they dilate my eyes). I love getting out of work at 2:30 on Fridays in the summer, and this is the first place I've ever worked where people actually leave early. Every other place, there's always been talk about leaving early on summer Fridays, but nobody ever actually did, so I don't know what the point was.

While the cupcakes were baking, I watched Burn Notice. I like Jesse. He can stay. I also like the dilemma he sets up for Michael; I loved that last scene where Michael agrees to help him find out who burned him, knowing full well that he's putting himself in Jesse's sights when the truth comes out. I also love that Madeline is back on board with the team and that Jesse is living in the garage. it makes much more sense than some random civilian.

I also watched some more Fringe last night, and one of the things I find really amazing about this show is how it makes me say Oh, Walter even though I know he's done horrible things (and might still be doing them if he had the full mental capacity to do so). The thing with Bell cutting out pieces of Walter's brain - literally cutting out his memories - was horrifying. And then storing them in other people's brains! WTF? And yet I am totally willing to go along with that, because it's heartbreaking and it explains a lot about what's wrong with Walter. I loved how Broyles supported Olivia's decision to save Walter at the end, while she was beating herself up over letting the bad guy go by making the "emotional" decision. I like Broyles, and I really like how Lance Reddick plays him.

At the end of the 'girl possessed by abusive Navy guy' episode, I know I can't be the only one who yelled, "SALT AND BURN HIM" when they were like, "How do we know he won't come back?" There's a natural SPN crossover if ever there was one. Also, is this the first time they explicitly reference the Peter/Olivia UST? Because he's doing a lot of, "I'm here for you, Olivia!" and she's not really going for it yet, but you can totally tell he means a lot to her. Anna Torv is really good conveying emotion silently. I could totally ship them, but I really don't care about a will they/won't they kind of thing.

In the deformed townspeople episode, every time they talked about the pulse I thought of Dark Angel. Thus, it was especially amusing to see Ames White pop up as the kid's father.

In the virus episode, I was really happy to see Astrid out in the field; I wish they'd let her do more - every time Walter disappears or gets hurt while with her, I want her to do more than just be doe-eyed and apologetic. (Those gross worms in the smuggled people from China episode were seriously gross - this show definitely competes with Bones for grossest show ever and is SO MUCH CREEPIER about it. Ugh. Giant worms in people stomachs. *shudders*)

I also loved that Astrid picked up on Walter's, "I can't lose him again" because I was yelling at the TV screen, "Astrid, ask him what he means!" I mean, clearly the audience knows what he means, but no one on the show knows yet - well no one from "our" side - so I was really happy at the end when she asked.

Also, one of the episodes I watched was, um, *checks episode guide* "Unearthed" and I was like, "CHARLIE! YAY! CHARLIE! ... um, how is Charlie back and nobody notices? WTF"? But I didn't want to check to see if it was somehow being aired out of order, because what if there was some amazing MEANING behind his reappearance? But when it went completely unremarked on in the episode, I did look it up, and it was, in fact, a season 1 episode aired out of order for whatever reason. So I got all excited for nothing. Sigh. Charlie. I miss him.

I guess I'll be wrapping up my viewing over the weekend, and then I can poke around and read stuff without worrying about being spoiled.
