so bitter, baby, and so sweet

Cabinet was achieved at approximately 2:30 this afternoon. By 3:15 I had most of the stuff I was going to move into it moved in, which is GLORIOUS. Also, I can finally bring my beautiful Le Creuset pitcher home from work, where it has been living in a box under my desk for the past couple of weeks, since I had no room for it here.

Now I'm trying to decide what other kinds of organizational thingies I can hang off it. There's this inside the cabinet door rack, which I could probably also hang off the top, as there is a lip on either side, or this one. There's also this refrigerator side rack, which is too long for my fridge, and long enough that I couldn't use the paper towel holder if I hung it off the side of the cabinet, which is a minus. Also, it's ugly.

I'm also trying to decide if I can now buy a food processor, since I'd have a place to put it.

Decisions, decisions.

I will probably hold off on the food processor for a while - at least until most of the new laptop is paid off (which shouldn't be terribly long, but I can't pay it in one shot like I did with the last two I bought, well, not and have enough money in the short-term for food and rent too *snerk*) - but the idea of having one is making me a little giddy.

Cabinet! If I had space to take a decent picture of it (and had some kind of photo editing software installed on here - I guess I'll be downloading gimp? how hard is that to learn for someone like me, who mostly resizes, crops, saturates, and meddles with brightness/contrast?), I'd share, but it looks like this, except unfinished. Maybe at some point I'll feel the need to stain it or paint it, but for now, I like that it's plain old pine and that it smells like wood. My bookshelves, which they custom built for me in maple, smelled AWESOME for months after I got them.

In other news, thanks to deepfishy, I was able to upgrade Firefox on Nina the netbook and ALSO get Pidgin to start working again. Go me. Still no luck with the left mouse button, but you can't have everything.

I also moved some of my wsip onto this laptop, and at some point I'm going to have to try writing on it. Hopefully that will go well. I will have to copy the latest ones from the writing journal. I guess I'll get to that this weekend. I also have to try to install Citrix for work, but since I do not have Outlook on here, I'm not sure that's going to be feasible. I don't know. (I got the home/student version of MS Office for Mac, and Outlook and Exchange are not included in that, which is fine by me, because I haven't used Outlook at home since I got the last laptop, but possibly it might be necessary for work? I don't know.) If I can't do it, I'll have to take it into the office next week and let the IT guys have a crack at it, so I guess I'd prefer not to have anything on here at all.

And now I have to go put my shoes on and lenses in so I can meet fleurdeleo for dinner.
