impossible to resist

I have very fond memories of the original mininseries(es?) and the series that resulted from them, but I wasn't particularly excited about this remake, even with Morena Baccarin and Alan Tudyk in it. I enjoyed it, but it didn't set me on fire. As
giandujakiss said, they jumped over most of the interesting stuff the original concentrated on - the building dread and slow reveal of what the visitors were up to and what they looked like, the different responses of regular people as they chose to resist or collaborate or any number of things in between. I don't think we found out about the fifth column of aliens (of which Robert Englund was a part, no? I remember he was the sweet not evil alien) until the second miniseries, though don't quote me on that, because it's been many, many years since I've seen any of it.

I think Baccarin and Elizabeth Mitchell were good, but they weren't given a lot to work with.

On the upside, I don't think anyone's going to be as loltastic as Marc Singer was in the original, though I am hoping there will be an icky and highly biologically improbable alien-human hybrid birth scene, if it lasts that long.

I'm watching The Good Wife, but man, it is a snoozer of a show. I like Alicia and Kalinda and Will, but it never really engages me. Sigh.
