I am all discombobulated. I had a committee meeting at 9am this morning, so I got in for 8:30 to make sure the room and the AV were set up and the materials laid out etc., and of course, the committee members were having a pre-meeting in there, so I couldn't get situated. And then the meeting, which was scheduled to be two hours, lasted about 45 minutes, and then they tossed us out and went into executive session.
So it all went well, though I had a rough moment when I thought the meeting didn't get recorded. It did - I was just had my headphones plugged into the wrong device. Sigh.
It's over for now, but I get to do it all again on Wednesday morning - different committee, same dance. Which, well, this is why they hired me, more than any of the admin stuff, but I just get nervous, especially the first time out. I am sure I will settle in eventually. I hope.

I posted a wee SCC ficlet last night:
The Birnam WoodThe Sarah Connor Chronicles; Derek/Cameron; pg; 400 words
Derek never forgets that Cameron is not a real girl.
I've had a version of this story on my list for a long time - since Derek watched her dance last season, probably - but
it was going to be set in some amorphous near future where they were still working together, and since that was nixed last week, I went with writing the core of the story rather than the longer and more complicated version. I like how it turned out.
And that makes 47 of 151 West Wing episode titles accounted for. *whimper*

I enjoyed Kings last night. I don't really have much to say about it, but Ian McShane is awesome.

Today's poem:
Expect Nothing
Expect nothing. Live frugally
On surprise.
become a stranger
To need of pity
Or, if compassion be freely
Given out
Take only enough
Stop short of urge to plead
Then purge away the need.
Wish for nothing larger
Than your own small heart
Or greater than a star;
Tame wild disappointment
With caress unmoved and cold
Make of it a parka
For your soul.
Discover the reason why
So tiny human midget
Exists at all
So scared unwise
But expect nothing. Live frugally
On surprise.
