and your friends, they sing along and they love you

You guys, it's like the Bones writers were writing JUST FOR ME!

BOOTH THROWING KNIVES! BOOTH PLAYING HOCKEY! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I am a little confused as to why Luc Robitaille is his favorite hockey player, but I'm willing to go along with it, since it meant we got BOOTH PLAYING HOCKEY even if he was wearing a freaking Flyers jersey in his hallucination. Ugh.

HOCKEY! KNIFE THROWING! THERE IS NO BAD THERE!

fleurdeleo and I went to see Notorious this evening - the biopic of the Notorious B.I.G., not the Hitchcock movie. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it. I think the guy who plays Biggie does a really fine job, and Angela Bassett as Voletta Wallace is awesome as usual. I also liked the women who played Faith Evans and Lil Kim. I only knew the basic outline of the story, though of course I remember both Biggie's and Tupac's deaths - they didn't have the same personal impact for me that Kurt Cobain's suicide had (the only celebrity death that I've ever felt viscerally), but I was sad we'd lost such talented young men, and wow, the soundtrack on this movie reminds me of that and makes me sad all over again. Now I am trying to decide if I should buy the soundtrack to the movie or his greatest hits album, except the latter doesn't appear to have "Party & Bullshit" on it, and that just ain't right. Hmm...

Today is Dean Winchester's birthday, so as has become tradition, I posted a story:

Put Your Lips Together and Blow
Supernatural/Veronica Mars; Dean/Veronica; adult; 5,460 words
"You know how to whistle, don't you, Dean?"

I started this story, my hand to god, back in, like, August 2006, when I first got into SPN fandom, and could never quite figure out how to write it. I knew I wanted it to be bantery Dean/Veronica hijinks, and I have a Dean/Veronica song (only one, but it does make me think of them for some reason, and I listened to it a lot while writing this and also while writing You can never escape (You can only move south down the coast)), and last weekend I opened it up and was like, I am finishing this goddamn story. That was partially my motive for rewatching VMars, though it was also just that it had been so long and I wanted to see it again. But I needed to refresh myself on Veronica's voice.

The working title was "I Only Know When Someone Wants Me" but there is a line early on that refers to Bogey and Bacall, and I was like, "huh, I should just name this 'Put Your Lips Together and Blow" and make the summary "You know how to whistle, don't you, Dean?" and once I had made that decision, the story sort of fell into place. The funniest part is that last night, I was chatting with amberlynne and I was like, "after the not-quite sex scene, I don't know if I need an actual sex scene; it feels kind of redundant," and she was like, "I vote yes on porn." And then I showed her the "succubus made them (almost) do it" bit and she was like, "Um, okay, maybe not." *g* Anyway, I am really pleased with how it turned out, and I'm glad other people like it, too. Thanks to those of you who've commented. I really appreciate it.

I still have one more Dean/Veronica wip I'd like to finish, but that one is completely AU and requires more plotty type stuff. But who knows? I finished a 2.5 year old wip this week! Anything could happen!

Previous years' stories include The Near Occasion of Sin (Sam/Dean; adult) and them downtown boys sure talk gritty (Dean/Kaylee; adult).

Stories actually about Dean's birthday include It's My Birthday, Too, Yeah and The Worst Day of the Year; it has a section in The Calendar Hung Itself, but that is about many other things as well.
