I talked a lot about the remixes already and the other two are, well, they're the kinds of stories that are right up in my wheelhouse, you know? Ideas gacked from other sources - Homicide, Peter Pan - and retrofitted to the characters I'm interested in.
In looking at them together like this, I think it's interesting that Sam is the one falling apart in "Eleven Cents," so Dean has to hold it together, and then Dean is the one literally* unraveling in "Angel Maintenance," and Sam has to put him back together, and that the one takes place before Dean's deal comes due, and the other after. Hmm... Either way, like all the rest of my SPN stories, they're both about how much Sam and Dean love each other, so it works out in the end.
I like that my remixes hit all the things I like to write - there's gen and het and boyslash (one day I will write more girlslash; really I will), crossovers and character introspection, some light angst, some romance, and some comedy.
*and yes, I do mean literally, not figuratively

I woke up with this in my head every morning for about a week, and had to listen to it a lot to get rid of the earworm.
4. Slaves and Bulldozers - Soundgarden
I had this on repeat a lot while doing final remixy admin things before the archive opened. There's something cathartic about wailing along with Chris Cornell, you know? Possibly Soundgarden is my go-to music for remix angst - last year during the matching and emailing, I had the Johnny Cash cover of Rusty Cage on repeat. It's pretty freaking awesome.
3. Wings for Wheels - Bruce Springsteen (and along with it, Thunder Road)

Speaking of music, the iPod has been playing Super Bon Bon with some regularity lately, and I was thinking last night that even though I mostly associate it with the car-stealing montage on Homicide, it'd make an AWESOME Winchesters Tough Guy Jazz Hands vid. By which I mean, it would be great for a Dean + Sam + shiny weapons + flashlights extravaganza. Possibly with some power shots of the car thrown in.
I also think Idle Hands by the Gutter Twins would be a great Dean/Crossroads Demon vid.
I'm just throwing that out there.
