but love is a trackless domain

Work was stupidly busy today, I did not sleep well last night, and my nap this evening was interrupted by hammering in the hallway outside my apartment. WTF? So I am still headachy and melancholy in equal measure. And cranky about Eliot Spitzer. I would like real life to resemble The Wire slightly less.

I think the moment that summed up not only the finale, but the whole show, was Cheese's speech about how the game always stays the same, it's only the players that change.

*nod nod*

I loved his speech, and how it was cut off by a gunshot to the head. Because of his own disloyalty to Prop Joe.

And so the little moments are the most significant and uplifting of the bunch (my favorite was when Reginald (I can't think of him as Bubbles anymore) walked upstairs to have dinner with his sister - such a simple thing, but it meant so much).

That was an amazing moment, and truly earned, given what he'd been through over the course of the series. I was so happy to see him get that validation in the end.

I've never seen a minute of the show, but I've heard two or three interviews with Simon over the past couple of days (Fresh Air, Talk of the Nation, etc.) and he seems-- although slightly pretentious with the "Camus" and the "Candide" name-dropping-- pretty much made of awesome.

I'm thinking husband and I might have to make this our next big rewatch series. Yeah.

Yeah, he's a little pretentious, and a bit of an ass, but he makes amazing television. I highly recommend it.
