love is a ghost train howling on the radio

Suddenly and inexplicably, I cannot send email. *weeps* I knew this day had gone too well for a Tuesday. Tuesdays, for those of you joining the show in progress, canonically suck.

I put in a support ticket (at 10:30, when I started writing this entry), so hopefully they will resolve the problem quickly.

Meanwhile, to make myself feel better, I will stare at this picture of Jared and Jensen, where Jensen looks at Jared like he's the MOST AWESOME THING EVER OMG!

Ahem.

Some links, gathered from ye old flist and del.icio.us network:

* Chocolate Origins Traced to Beer Makers 3,000 Years Ago (link via unanon)
"Beer! Had the earliest morality developed under the influence of beer, there would be no good or evil, there would be 'kinda nice' and 'pretty cool.'" (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

* John Scalzi's report on his trip to the Creation Museum. (link via cofax7) Hilarious. The slideshow is long but worth the time. *cackles*
Did you know, for example, that Adam is responsible not only for the fall of man, but also for the creation of venom? It didn’t exist in the Garden of Eden, because, well. Why would it? Weeds? Adam’s fault. Carnivorous animals (and, one assumes, the occasional carnivorous plant)? Adam again. Entropy? You guessed it: Adam. Think about that, won’t you; eat one piece of fruit and suddenly you’re responsible for the inevitable heat death of the universe. God’s kind of mean.

* Spread this Meme: Pretty Bird Woman House (thanks to casapazzo for the link)
A women's shelter at the Standing Rock Reservation in South Dakota which has 3 staffers answering 397 crisis calls and giving shelter to nearly 200 women and children in the past year has been burned down. Information on how to help is available via this link.

Yesterday (the day before?), minervacat shared Wellington's Wednesdays by the Weakerthans, and she hooked me not just because I like the Weakerthans, but because she mentioned that it references Temptation by New Order, and you know I LOVE me some New Order, and I also love songs that refer to other songs. (hello, I'm the one who thinks Victoria Williams' Crazy Mary is the Mary who doesn't get in the car at the end of Thunder Road, though I suppose she could also be the Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town; of course, I also think the girl in Daughter grew up to be the person in Rearviewmirror ["the shades go down" -> "finally the shades are raised"], possibly with a stop along the way as the girl in Why Go? but that's all from one artist, so it's different - aren't Once and Footsteps supposed to be about the same guy, too? Or am I making that up, too?) Anyway, I mostly see this as a chance to share a great New Order song. And apparently a bunch of Pearl Jam. huh.

I don't really have anything to say about House, except more Cuddy and Wilson please, but Bones keeps making me happy. Booth! So adorable! he bought her a smurf! hee! And his final confession, that he has grown, that he knows he should have stepped in and protected that kid, and as an adult, he's humiliated that his younger self didn't. Lovely. I say this every week, but I cannot believe they made me all squishy and happy over Booth/Brennan, considering how much I disliked her when I started watching the show.

Meanwhile, I've been half-heartedly working on this entry for the past hour, and my email is still not working. Sigh. If I don't have email in the morning, I may have to kill someone.
