Why does my porn keep developing plot? What is that about? I do not approve. Too much time that could be spent having sex is being spent talking about ghosts or having angst or other non-sex-like things. And it's not just one story. It's almost all of them (some of them were like that to begin with; the way I'm going, those will spontaneously ( Read more... )

So, and this is almost embarrassing, I tried watching Dark Angel last week, and, um, it was so bad. I mean, I knew it wasn't very good going in, but I couldn't even make it through an episode. Not even Jensen being all, "I go after what I want. [beat] I want you." to some chick in a bar could keep me watching. This got a second season from Fox, but Firefly got canned after fourteen episodes? Seriously?

I'm so glad to see someone else can't make it through the series (although I skipped to Beresford Agenda, which I enjoyed in part because it's mostly Jensen and very little Jessica). I'm just... I keep trying to watch it because people do seem to like it but I just can't. I find Max so, so awful that sitting through it is almost painful.

Watching it with a 103 fever was do-able. Otherwise?

Wibble.

The trouble is, it's on some random channel (SiTV) that doesn't give the episode names or any plot synopsis, so I have no idea what episode it was, or what's coming next, so I can't really skip ahead or anything.

Yes, it is that bad. It really, really is. Did you watch the Jensen-centric episode? Because that's probably the best of them. Otherwise there's no reason to watch it unless you're shippy (which I am, and still haven't figured out why). And you know what's worse? It got two whole seasons and then got cancelled to make way for Firefly. Yeah, that worked, Fox.

No, it was one where Jessica Alba had some temporary cure for some virus, and instead of doing the dirty with the cute guy, she wanted to drink wine and take it slow. Um. What. Ever. They only had ten hours! Why waste them drinking wine?

The problem is I just caught it in reruns on some random channel where there are no episode names or descriptions listed in the guide, so I can't skip ahead and don't know what I saw.

I just know that it was nigh unwatchable.

It got two whole seasons and then got cancelled to make way for Firefly. Yeah, that worked, Fox.

Sigh.

Ah, Borrowed Time. More notable for Jensen in a towel than for its completely ridiculous plot. I mean, if you had a virus where you couldn't touch your boyfriend and then you had a cure for ten hours, of course you'd drink wine.

Um, I totally don't have a bunch of episodes uploaded, in case you were wondering. The best two episodes are Pollo Loco, with Jensen as Alec's insane serial killing twin brother who's obsessed with the Virgin Mary (no, seriously) and The Berrisford Agenda, Alec's backstory episode.

Oh. Cool. I will check that out. Thank you.

The first season was easier to start with, honestly. Because you expect pilots to be bad and then the story is interesting enough where you sort of have to keep watching. S2 does not have that going for it. In fact, Jensen's pretty much the only thing S2 has going for it. You should totally skip ahead to The Beresford Agenda. Jensen is shirtless! And in glasses!

Yeah, the problem is, I think this crazy channel is showing them in whatever order, with no synopsis in the channel guide, so I have no clue what's going on or when a particular episode is going to air.

Yeah. It helps to see the pining that Max and...um...what's his name...do from the beginning. And there's actually a semi-logical sequence of events. Plus, Jensen shows up in S1 but not as awesome Alec, so that gets confusing as well.

If you say so. *g*

Exactly!

And there are some weirdly awesome episodes that make you blink (Brainiac actually made me cry, but that may just be a me thing) that make you think, wow, there are parts of a good show trapped inside the huge mess of WTF.

Heh. I believe you. I just do not think I am going to be able to wade through the WTF to get to the good things.

Sadly, I have no way of knowing when this particular channel will be airing any particular episode, because they use the same synopsis for all of them, which is the basic premise of the series. So I can't just watch when a recommended episode is on.

Dark Angel was initially pretty good then went weird when they took their basically fine premise and tried to go I don't really know where with it.

And it got two seasons because it had the advantage of teenage boys going akhsfhlahsdf Hot about Jessica Alba, I reckon.

That is sad, but probably true. But she is really not very good at all. Not very good, and very not good. Sigh.

This is one hundred percent true, imo. The boys at work were very much pleased with Jessica Alba's Saturn award (or nomination, I forget which.)

At the time, I recall making the comment that casting clueless and talentless Latino bimbos in the place of cluessless and talentless blonde bimbos was a marginal step sideways, not an improvement. The boys were wondering why the hell I thought her acting talent mattered.

And finally - I might be oogling Jensen Ackles until the cows come home, but at least that boy can *act*.

(If you think I sound bitter, recall that Farscape and Firefly were both cancelled about the same time frame.)
