you know just where to find me

I have been craving steak since last night, and since there was no good option for ordering one in, this evening, fleurdeleo and I will be going to dinner at Bistro LeSteak, which pleases me and my craving for medium rare red meat.

So I was up until four-thiry five-thirty this morning finishing off "Give Me a Leonard Cohen Afterworld," which I now have to edit as luzdeestrellas did a seriously quick beta turn around on it, despite being thwarted mercilessly by technology. I'm not sure how this story ended up being 11K words long, but it did. I will have more to say about it after I post it, and I will explain why I am in such a rush to do so.

cathexys has an interesting post about the "We're Not Gay, We Just Love Each Other" ("WNGWJLEO") trope in slash, and I've been thinking about this a bit myself lately, because generally when I write slash, the characters are all implicitly bi (or in the case of Remus and Sirius, explicitly gay), and I just don't deal with the identity politics of it much at all. But I've been thinking about it in terms of Wincest, and why the only time I really buy Dean sleeping with a guy is Sam.

I don't have many unslashable characters in my fannish worldview - Toby Ziegler and Frank Pembleton are the only two who come to mind as people I just don't buy being interested in same sex sexual relations pretty much ever. I've talked about my complete lack of interest in Mal-slash, and I feel the same about Dean. Not that they wouldn't have sex with guys, but that *I'm* just not interested in reading about it. I'd much rather read Dean/girl than Dean/guy at any given point (and there are so many women in the multiverse for him to sex up! So many women, so little time!), unless that guy is Sam, and then I like it even more if Sam is somehow a girl.

I'm not sure what, if anything, this means, except I am also still wrestling with how Wincest works for me, and how it doesn't, and how sometimes I feel like making them have sex makes things simpler rather than more complicated, and that's not really something that works for me, except when sometimes it does.

I am trying to figure out what to do for this month's Frankenmix. Desert island songs! Only 15! SO HARD! And also this week's lunatunes theme is Music of Your High School Years, and I am so torn about what to upload, 'cause there's so much of it, and I still LOVE so much of it. I will say I was THRILLED to finally get hold of a copy of Infected by The The, a song I LOVE.

Meantime, I can't stop listening to Mike Doughty. Sigh.

But now editing. No, really.
