Chapter One

The sun was shining as his bus drove into town. The girl, walking across the road on the other side was closing her eyes, waiting to get hit by a car as she dawdled easily, the tears still freefalling from her eyes. She sniffed, as the bus honked loudly. It startled her out of her suicidal tendencies, and she quickly skipped over to the wrong side of the road.

She sat on the bench, shuddering slightly as she pulled her knees up to her chest. Why did this happen to me? She wondered briefly, her mind thinking in images of red and pain...somewhere in the back of her mind someone had just fallen to their death on a set of stairs.

She wished she could zoom in on that person, and figure out what awaited for them at the bottom of the steps. She sighed, opening her eyes and looking to see a pair of legs in front of her.

Sniffing lightly, her eyes traveled up to see a boy with an open heart and a concerned look upon his face. His shallow blue pools seemed to be as large as the ocean when he stared upon her. She'd find that out soon enough.

"Hello."

"...hi..." She said softly. He only smiled, and held out his hand. "Care to show me around, I'm completely lost." She raised an eyebrow, her red-rimmed eyes staring up at him incredulously.

"Who are you?"

"Brian." He said easily enough, his hand still extended. She looked at it briefly, before taking it. His hand was rough and warm. It gave her tingles before she looked up, frowning at him.

"That's it?"

"Well...I have a last name too." He said, before looking up, and pulling her down the sidewalk. "Come on...I have to get something to drink...I'm parched." He said easily. She, bewildered followed him. Who was this person who'd just walked into her, and dried her tears? With a wary smile, she followed after him, having to move faster to catch up with his long stride.
