Wrrrrrrrr-flush!

May 07, 2007 04:45

I woke up to some noises that I hadn't heard in my house before... it made kind of a wrrr-ing noise, followed by a flushing noise. It took me a while before I finally figured out I was hearing the sump pump working.

I've been in my house over a year now, and that's the first time the sump pump has ever done anything. o_O;

And I was like... great. Sump pump is working? That means there's been quite a lot of rain, enough that the water level in that thing is high enough to force it to work. So I took a stroll around my basement and lo, I found damp spots on th floor, too. One was easy enough to figure out - the crack in the north side of the foundation is leaking a bit.

But there's another damp spot around the main drain line going out of my house, too, and it's no where near enough a wall to blame it on something with the foundation (in my non-professional opinion).

Ah. The joys of homeownership. >_<;
