work sucks!

Sooooo... yeah, I'm making money now. Not a ton, mind you, but since Brent and I and our little family of Pomeranians are living with Mom and Dad till August we're actually saving a lot of money to pay for the wedding. I've already picked out my dress and veil, Brent got his tux tonight (all black with a plum vest and tie), we've done the flowers, half the cost on Franklin Park... still a lot to go though. I'm unsure about the bridesmaid situation. I asked Heather, my cousin in Africa for the peace corps... she asked if I would move the date so she could go to the whole Burning Man festival. Um... doesn't the Burning Man happen every year? I know Heather loves me, but c'mon! Her mom wrote me because apparently Heathie could read but not answer emails, so I don't know if it was actually Heather's idea or not. I mostly thought it was funny that someone would presume to ask something like that, but Brent, Brent, and my parents thought it was pretty offensive. I want to ask my friend Tiffany, and I'm debating asking Amanda. I would also ask Erin if I were still in contact with her. But honestly, as long as BT is there, I'm straight. Kyle's new wife will be on the roster too, as familial obligations go. I like her though, so it's no problem. We're ahead of our budget schedule... now if work would just get a little under control! I work overtime every week (so far my highest week was 52 hours), but it doesn't always seem worth it with the high stress level at the store. We do NOT have enough people on staff. My cousin Rachel was working with us for under three weeks. In that time she no-call no-showed (today), called an hour into her shift yesterday to say she would be late because her ex-bf trashed her apartment and then never came in. The day before that she came in an hour late, but because she told us her bf had beat her up (my co-worker took pics of the damage for her), everyone was really nice about it, and I called and got my family involved in helping her through the situation. In her first week and a half, she had two sick days and left over three hours early for a doctor's appt. And on top of that she's not doing that great of a job when she's there. But my parents went to my cousin's christening party tonight and Josh was there. He said Lea (my boss) had fired Rachel, and that our aunt, Rachel's mom, had called to yell at him about it. Yes, Rachel is having a bad time. Yes, I want her to get away from abuse and her ex-bf, but she also needs to be responsible enough to show up when she's expected to show up, and if not, she needs to be calling the appropriate people BEFORE her shift starts. She had her bf call off for her on one of her sick days, and he cussed my boss out! Very professional. So apparently Josh thinks I'm management material... that's really nice to hear, but I don't know about that. More money, cool. Being responsible for an entire store and being the first line of defense in a constant barrage of angry customers? It's hard enough doing it now, and I definitely don't know everything yet. I guess I needed to vent. Wow! It's almost one and I'm still awake! A miracle! I shall celebrate with a bottle of red wine and a skanky US Weekly gossip-fest with a little Invader ZIM off the DVR... ahhhh
