Rainy Monday, and I'm taking a "personal day", so I'll be lounging about in my sushi pajamas, doing a little work and occasionally blogging. Also catching up on some Tivo, doing laundry, maybe even a little housework. And snuggling with Ariel, who is quite the emotionally demanding little cat.

if you can handle a late weeknight, come to the Star Bar in Little 5 this evening around 11pm. I'd love to finally meet you in person and think you would definitely enjoy the environment for Your F'in 15 minutes karaoke if you haven't been before....

Oh hey, thanks for the invite! Sounds like fun, and I ADORE karaoke - but I have an early meeting on Tuesday :-( and will be in bed at 11... (how boring, I know). We have this meeting every Tuesday morning - is the invite open for any other night this week??

*sigh* My hubby says he'll subject me to merciless teasing about being old if I don't go, and he promises to make sure I get up in time for my meeting, so ...... I guess I'm in

We're talking 10pm now, cause we ARE old. But not to worry if you can't make it. It used to be pretty much a weekly event so I'm sure there would be other opportunities.

I believe The Carpenters made it famous, but there's a good, recent cover version by Cracker.

By george, you're right - I think I must have deleted that fact from my brain because just the notion of The Carpenters makes my brain turn to mush. (My favorite line on a VH1 1970's music special: "coming up next - when the music turned to mush.")

Will have to check out the Cracker version.

Inquiring minds want to know... how was the karaoke?

I've mentioned the erstwhile Yum-Yum club to some of my girlfriends, including supergoober, karmakeys, and elliedee. We all live within 10 minutes of each other and would be up for a Yum-Yum resurrection. In fact, we usually get together for a Wednesday gals' night at least once a month anyway. Getting together on a school night keeps the drinking to a minimum, and we're all trying to eat healthier too. Sometimes we watch a movie or something on TiVo, but sometimes we just eat and gab. The main difference between this and Yum-Yum is that usually the hostess provides all the food.
